HAPPY NEW YEAR
Well we got to Christmas and had a nice time. Lots of presents, lots of silliness, lots of game playing. We got a great new strategy game called ‘Azul’ which has been played a lot.
The snow came Christmas Eve and stayed for Christmas Day but was very short lived. When we lived in England, if it snowed, we would rush outside and make a snowman (which incidentally used up all the snow in our garden) because we knew it would be gone the next day. Now we just look outside and say “oh it snowed again”.
For New Years Eve, we entertained MissNecessary (Small’s girlfriend). We made fresh pasta which we ate with garlic bread and had chocolate mousse for dessert plus a Moo trifle later. We played Pass the Parcel which we had to translate into Pass around the package with forfeits and clues to prizes. I’m sure she thinks we are crazy. We had a card game, a quick game of charades and played Guess Who, as well as a board game called UPSET, before turning on the TV and introducing her to Top of the Pops and Jools’Hootnanny. She ended up snuggling up on the sofa and nearly falling asleep. We all made it to past 12 when her father collected her. It’s been a few years since we made it to N
ewYear.
Poor Smallest got ill and went to bed early and a few days later we took him to the doctors where he was given antibiotics and an inhaler to stop him getting Pneumonia. There must be a lot of it about. Luckily no one else seems to be getting it (though I could be responsible for giving it to him myself in the first place).
We had two evenings out at friends, one a card evening where we learned a new game and got to eat lovely things and another which was a drinks and food party.
A few days ago we went to the local old cinema where Moo and I watched MaryPoppins and Huffle
and the boys watched Aquaman. It worked out well as they both pretty much started and finished at the same time. We met up at the chippy afterwards.
Huffle and I went out by ourselves yesterday to get health cards and licences renewed and we swapped out our licence plates. Licence plates work differently here. The plates are attached to a person (not literally) not a car so you move them as you get new cars. However, ours have bubbled and split in the cold weather (bad manufacturing at that time) and so yesterday they changed them. Our old plates were BMZF and I remembered them as ‘BigMummyZoomsFast’. Now we have CHPV and we have named them CHIPVAN. We both have the same letters but different numbers. I am happy to be driving around a chip van, if only I had the noisy horn that goes with one.
At some point between Christmas and new year, we fed the chickadees at the Beach.

I had a lensball for Christmas and am loving using it.

Moo and I also went to se the fantasy of lights. We were a little disappointed.
