Daddy won by a foot and a toe

Last night threatened high humidy and rain and although it started out very humid, I don't think we got the rain. No-one is sleeping to their full potential, hence everyone is a little moody at times. Huffle and I have decided that ten days is a good time for us and holidays (in this country anyway). A week isn't enough and two weeks is just too long. We long for the comfort of our own beds, constant wifi, non sandy feet and beds, and air conditioning instead of a hurricane jet of a fan that we sleep with!

Today we had a beautiful day on our local beach, all to ourselves bar the odd walker and inflatable passing by. After breakfast we trudged down the steps, camped down and stayed until around 5pm. We had lunch there of leftover focaccia made into triple decker sandwiches and Gourmet Skor triangles which Smallest chose from the supermarket yesterday and was kept cool by two huge freezer blocks. Huffle fetched us some ice poles mid afternoon from the house.

Two inflatables passed us today, one was a huge beach ball that Huffle spotted ages before it got to us. It was too far away to swim to and he forbade us to fetch it. However, Small and I disobeyed him. He swam towards it and I swam diagonal to it in case Small missed it. We got it and then I let it go by accident. It was travelling really quickly but Small was determined to get it. He swam to shore, raced along the sand and swam back in, realised he had missed it and swam back to shore again. He raced along the shore again and swam back in and finally caught up with it. That's stubbornness at its best. I swam along watching him to make sure he didn't get into any trouble and we brought it back to camp. It was kept in the tent until later when Smallest played with it and then the boys played cricket and water volleyball. It got a slight leak and Small set it free before we left the beach.

Another inflatable passed us in the form of a lilo (we don't know what they are called here but when Otto2 asked Huffle about it, he looked confused when he said it was a lilo), once again Huffle said we weren't to get it as it was much further out. I had a go but I was worried it would be difficult to get it back so I left it but it looked like it might have landed on the beach much further down. We didn't bother getting it.

It was really hot and we have played a lot of cricket a la water today, plus swimming, a bit of (jackers) boules, UNO and Smallest and I walked along the beach, picking up stones and later played 'Huron's got Rocks'. One that was very similar in shape and texture to a pumice stone won and I even pumiced my feet with it.

We think we are going home Friday after breakfast as the weather report is not good. We are supposed to leave Staurday midday but we don't like to waste a day driving so normally go early evening but the boys don't sleep well and if the weather isn't so good, we might as well go Friday in the day. We then get a weekend before Hufle has to go to work. We turned the pool pump off before we went so we need a day or two to get that back to swimming conditions.

After showers and a general gadget play, we all went out to Goderich where we had Manzarotti again (more than enough for lunch tomorrow) and two games of Monopoly Deal. Then we walked twice around the square trying to make room for ice cream which we succeeded in doing. Today's flavours were Key Lime (Huffles fave this holiday), Caramel Salted Truffle and Gold Medal Ribbon. We sat on a bench and watched cars do the circle of the square (I think that makes sense). If anyone stared at us we held our cone up to show them. We got a few waves, they may have thought we were fair folk who had just moved in nearby.

This evenings sky
Ice creams

Smallest and I popped into the supermarket for a last loaf of bread and I was trying to teach him about the 13% tax added at the checkout. Seems that bread isn't taxable and neither is ice cream. Well you learn something new everyday.

Late night edit: it is 11:05pm, thundering and lightning (we have no proper basement so Huffle can't hide anywhere) and the house is incredibly hot. All the fans are going. Smallest has a wet flannel on his head and Small has a wet tea-towel draped over him. Both had trouble getting to sleep. Huffle and I are sitting with large ice blocks (the type you would use in a cool box) under our feet to try and cool us down. The whole of Ontario and beyond are under a storm watch and it is supposed to go on through the night and into tomorrow up to 2pm. Oh joy! At this rate we might just go home tomorrow!

Like-lost inflatables-Like

Smallest giving Small a massage while putting his sun cream on

Today's adventure was possibly the worst day of our holiday (bar Smallest in hospital obviously) so far, for me. We had decided to go to Grand Bend beach because the kids really wanted to. They were desperately hoping for big waves but said it didn't matter if there weren't as long as we went there. So after a leisurely breakfast, followed by a couple of games of Chess, we packed our bags and car and drove 40 minutes away to a busy 'Blackpool' style beach. Shops, restaurants and ice cream places lined the road down to the beach. Because the car park was pretty expensive, Huffle dropped us and the stuff near the beach and parked the car further away and then walked back to join us. In the meantime we found a spot (I won't say a space because space was at a premium today).

This is a nice photo of the beach before it got too busy

This is a big wide sandy beach with a lovely shallow to quickly deepening water with a sandbank somewhere after the deep part. It is lifeguard protected and so very popular with all sorts. We found a spot between a group of girls to the front of us (lots of like like likes and selfies), two smokey men (of course) by the side of us, two smokey women (of course) to the other side of us and various people (including coulee who ate 20 sandwiches - Small counted) at the back. The boys and I managed to get all our stuff on the beach and put up various umbrellas which instantly flew away or inside out before Huffle found his way back to us. Umbrellas and inflatables were flying all over the palace today. Several umbrellas landed in the water clipping people on the way and seven inflatables (that we saw) were lost forever.

My ear is still very deaf and all noises are indistinguishable, echoey and horrible. My right eye started itching and running from the moment we got in the car, I don't know if that is allergies or whatever but it carried on for most of the day making it very sore. One person had to constantly sit by our big Sportbrella all day in case it flew away so we couldn't all go in the water at the same time. I hated the beach, the water was nice and I hated the fact that we couldn't all play together or do anything away from our camp. It was also so humid and hot with humidex reaching 40* so doing too much wasn't really an option anyway.

The boys had a good time, I think though Smallest was very aware that I was not having a great time and tried to keep me company. Him and I went for an ice cream walk and bought ourselves a lemon and salted caramel gelato and tried to sit in the shade on the grass until the flies started biting me (not my day today). We sent Huffle and Small off for ice cream when we got back and we made Sandcastles and tried to play UNO (too blowy and we lost a few cards).

There were a few games we played with the ball in the water taking it in turns to keep hold of the umbrella and watch our bags (too many unsavouries about today to trust leaving things on the beach). We stayed until about 6pm when Smallest and I took it upon ourselves to clear everything up while the other two were in the lake. We then trudged along the road with all our stuff until we found an outside eaty place (we were wet, sandy, tired and hungry). What we had did a job and we walked back towards the car. Huffle left us in a shaded area to get the car and we drove home via a shop to pick up Olive Oil to soften the wax in my ear (if that's what's in there. Huffle thinks it's lake weed).

There is still a weather warning in effect with humidex of 40* and the low will be 21* overnight. OUCH!!!!!

The boys watched The Baseball All Star game on the TV while Huffle and I sat outside where it was cooler.

Hot Croissants, Hotcakes and hot beach

My unintentional setting the croissants on fire this morning resulted in us going out for breakfast which wasn't a bad thing as we found a place called Pat and Kev's. A kind of 50's industrial diner where we had Hotcakes (pancakes) with egg and sausage or ham. It was surprisingly good though we did have trouble trying to keep the egg away from the pancakes. Here, in Canada, they don't seem to have a problem with pancakes mixing with sausage and egg and maple syrup. Pile it all together, whereas I consider pancakes a sweet thing and eggs a savoury thing. I appear to have passed this 'thing' onto my children who made breakwaters (though that is a very Huffle thing to do) with sausages and suchlike. I'm quite weird about eggs, I don't like the white runny at all, it makes me queasy to see a wobbly white, but I do like a runny yolk (preferably with a piece of toast to dip into it). I asked for an Easy Over and then realised it was Over Easy (I can never get that one right). The rest had Sunny Side Up - they know what they like, except Huffle who just copied them because he doesn't know a sunny side from an over easy).

It was a dull start to the day but warm and a little sticky. I have been deaf completely in one ear since swimming out to the ship yesterday and probably before then too and I have to have my ears regularly syringed due to a tiny ear channel inherited from Moo and her Moo before. Anyway, the last time I had them syringed, the doctor told me to get a baby's mucus remover and use that with warm water myself. Today we went to the chemist to find one. We couldn't see any and when the lady asked if we needed anything in particular, Huffle said "my wife is looking for a device that removes baby's mucus". She knew exactly what it was and we bought it. We tried it when we got home but nothing much came out and I had another go later. I am still deaf.

We had a small shop for essentials and more breakfast for me to burn and then came back to get ready for our local beach. The weather report today was Humid with rain later so we thought it best to stay fairly near the house. The lake was really still and cool, too cool for Huffle and I but the boys went in and swam, did head stands, wrestled a bit and played catch. We played Cricket a la water, French Cricket, built a sandcastle with tunnels, fetched stones and ate lunch which we made previously.

At one point it rained and we sat under the umbrellas but it didn't come to much so we stayed put. More swimming, a bit of reading, some grumping and more cricket a la water. More rain and much humidness sent us back to the house where showers were had, hide and seek began with the boys after being slobbered on by the next door dogs (Smallest said they were too smelly to stay stroking them) and then a game of Catan.

Tonight we stayed in for dinner and ate frozen pizza, focaccia and angel delight with fruit. We certainly know how to party. The boys all watched the Home Run Derby which is representative baseball players hitting long balls (I think).

Huffle using the state of the art whisk. Look how pleased he is!

GARY I'm going to rip your nose off!

This morning we all watched the Wimbledon final. It was very exciting and we were happy it didn't go on too long as we wanted to get out of the house and on to the Beach. WELL DONE ANDY.

How I found the boys when I got up and a Blue Jay that was trying to attract lady Jays by splaying itself out on the top of the shed

At breakfast we squeezed around the table in the fully functional kitchen (I say functional but they don't own an egg slicer, just saying). It was quite a squeeze too but it had to be done because we had considerable rain last night and all the outside furniture was wet.

We finally managed to get out of the house sometime around lunchtime, packed the car full of beach stuff and drove to Bayfield. We had dinner at the Black Dog again but there was a different menu due to it being lunchtime. The kids had burgers, Huffle had Salmon Cakes and I had Quiche. Very very nice. I also got try a different beer called Tobaggon which was excellent. Monopoly Deal once again came in very handy for keeping us from being bored while waiting for our food. We always attract a lot of attention wherever we go, either with our accents or our card playing, mainly in a good way, people want to know what we are playing or where we are from. One girl said the other day "I'm going to steal that idea when I have kids".

After our lunch we had a quick look to see if the Frog painting was still for sale but it had been sold unfortunately so we all had an ice cream instead. Flavours today were Polar Eclipse (Mint/Choc marbled with a crumbled biscuit), Key Lime, Skor, Rainbow Sorbet. We took these and walked around the car exhibition which was all Thunderbirds ranging in age from 1955 onwards. We particularly liked the 1950 style ones with open roofs. On woman's husband bought one for her because he didn't want her driving his. One of the owners looked at Smallest with worried eyes, possibly afraid he was going to smear rainbow sorbet all over her white car.

My favourite is the blue one. Huffles was the zz top car that wasn't in the show at all.

After this we went to the beach. Parked up and climbed the 88 steps down to a fairly busy beach but I happened to see a family just clearing away and headed for their lovely secluded spot. We had a partly shaded bit right next to the water with some interesting trees trunks lying between us and the water. We spread ourselves out a bit so we had maximum room. Apart from the odd passer by, we didn't get many intrusions. One intrusion was noisy man with beer in hand shouting things we couldn't understand, another was man with wine in hand with a noisy dog called Gary. A lady sat close by reading her book quietly and a woman and a child sat nicely playing near us.

The boys went straight into the water and Huffle threw the ball to them like excitable puppies. I got in for a swim and stupidly said I would swim to the shipwreck. I didn't think I would really because sometimes I get a bit panicky when it's really deep but the boys wanted to go so we swam out. It was a really long long way and the boys were fabulous. I kept losing my flip flops (which I had to keep on because of the stones at the beginning of the water) and ended up putting them on my hands. Small and I tried a different stroke which was break stroke arms and font crawl legs, it worked. Smallest just dived through the waves which went over my head several times. I tried to get the boys to come back when I realised how far we were swimming but they wanted to go on, get to the ship, climb it and jump off. Small was really good with Smallest and kept offering to give him breaks by letting him hold on to him. He offered to help me too but I am an excellent water treader which is a good job else I would never have got there. Eventually we arrived and grabbed hold of the ship to get a break. Then we realised that was dangerous as the waves were throwing us up against the rusty metal ship. I dragged Small away as he was being hurtled at it and insisted that Smallest swim around the other side. We could hold on for a while safely and then we swam back. This time we swam directly back and not on a huge diagonal which we did on the way there. Huffle took a few photos of us. As we got to the shore, I banged my knee three times on huge rocks OUCH!

The three dots on the TL photo are, from left to right, Smallest, Small and me.

TM is where we were trying to swim to.

B&W photo is when we got there and one of us is the dot on the right near the ship.

MR is us coming back.

Phew that was a tiring swim!

The rest of the afternoon we collected stones for the mini Canada's got Junior Stones (we lost them though so I can't show you), swam, played catch, read and people watched. We also had our tea of Egg Sandwiches on there before having to get off the beach quickly when someone shouted "I need a poo!". Everyone packed up and we were home before you knew it. Bags emptied, showers had and then relaxing outside on gadgets with a cup of tea.

Orange Impossible

It was a grey day with rain threatening. I knew there was an Art Market on and I was determined to go and have a look whether my family came with me or not. I broached the subject at breakfast and Smallest said he would go because he knew I would take him to the book shop and he needed something new to read. Huffle said he would go because he likes to keep me happy. Small ignored me and dreamed of staying home alone with his tablet. However, they all decided to come as the weather wasn't good enough for the beach and what else could you do on a dull grey day? So after breakfast of ready made pancakes warmed in the oven (ummm not sure about that one!), we packed a maybe beach bag for later and fleeces (yes it was slightly chilly) and drove off to Goderich Square where a market was set up in a circular fashion. Huffle said this was so people would wander round and round and not really know if they had gone all the way or not.

There was a lot of lovely things for sale which we didn't buy but did appreciate the work gone into such things. We found several bookshops and the first we went in was a Christian Bookshop. At first we thought they wouldn't have the book we wanted but then we saw it did all sorts so went in. After checking the children's section we started to walk out when the owner shouted "anything I can help with?" I DOUBT IT, WE ARE LOOKING FOR AN ENGLISH AUTHOR. "Ask me and I'll check for you". DAVID WALLIAMS. "..and the title?" I looked at Smallest and he said rather loudly BOY IN A DRESS. "NO! We haven't got that!" Huffle and Small skulked out giggling and at that point I realised:- we were in a Christian shop and we had asked for a book called Boy in a Dress! Eeeeek, Smallest couldn't have rehearsed that one better if he had tried. We explained outside the shop why this might be a problem. Smallest said he could've asked for RATBURGER OR GANGSTER GRANNY.

The next bookshop was a second hand shop and we found a book based on a film he had seen. In the middle of the Art Market we found a book seller that was selling books by the inch. We found a Paddington, Charlie Brown and Kidnapped. It started to rain quite heavily so we ran back to the car and drove to Ipperwash (60km) where we were stayed last year. We remembered one of the place we ate at and stopped there. Once again we had our Monopoly Deal to play while we waited for our meals. Smallest asked for Baked Potato (yesterday I said they were rare here and now they are popping up all over the place) with beans and some cheese. It came loaded with cheese and bacon and then she bought a bowl of beans. Baked beans, kidney beans, chick peas and pineapple (I think it was pepper but Smallest said it was pineapple). It was bizarre but he really liked it. Smallest had a Macaroni Cheese which was the second best he had ever had (mine was first - da dahhhhh) and I had a baked veggie pasta. Huffle had chicken on a bun. It was all very good.

Smallest has discovered a love for all things fizzy which he normally isn't allowed!!!
Huffles favourite thing to see on holidays is the Native Smoke Wagons

We drove to the Ipperwash Beach and after the storm yesterday it had washed up all sorts of stuff, the water appeared black and the waves were crashing. There was no way the kids were going in there today as we worried about the undercurrent, thought the few people on there said it was surprising nice (despite the blackness). We wandered along one way, watched a man learning to body board and the walked along the other trying to avoid the waves that were very quickly coming in. It was very funny and I nearly ended up sitting on a mans lap!

There was an ice cream shop we frequented nearly every day last year and a flavour we particularly all enjoyed so we walked to the shop. It was the same woman with mainly the same flavours but not the one we wanted. I was still too full from dinner so we decided to leave it and go to another place we knew. This was a fair drive away but they made really good ice cream milk shakes. That's what we had for our tea (we are on holiday). Our flavours were strawberry, raspberry ripple, chocolate and Skor. They were incredibly filling and I had trouble with the strawberries getting stuck up my straw.

Next we drove to Grand Bend Beach which we knew was really busy but wanted to see what it was like. It was packed, even today and there were many fools in the water. Here it wasn't black or lake weedy but the waves were huge (proper huge MrsRumbleskins). Here was the second highlight of our day (Christian bookshop being the first) where we watched many people in the water. Three men and a Selfie Stick were trying to take photos of themselves and huge waves crashing over their heads. Two girls uncontrollably falling over all the time and our favourite, Mr Orange and the American Football boys. He sat on the edge of the water rolling in the waves waiting for the football to come near him. His friends were all in the water amongst the waves having the ball thrown over their heads and then trying to retrieve it. It was soon apparent that Mr Orange was as drunk as a skunk and couldn't even walk let alone swim or catch a ball. It was extremely funny to watch but also we were quite worried for his safety (Huffle edit - only a little bit) There were life guards there and they were whistling at the people going too far out. There were Kite Surfers, Surfboarders, body boarders and some silly man trying to surf on a lilo. There was plenty more hilarious things to watch but we only paid for an hour in the car park, plus we were all sat on a blanket in the strong wind.

Top Right you can see Mr Orange in orange shorts sitting in the water at the edge
Standard seagull shots
Bottom Right: the difference in all of our skin colours!!!

Our drive back to the house almost made the sun come out fully but it obviously didn't want to play ball today. Once back everyone was too tired to do anything more so we sat and relaxed, chatted and played on tablets.

What a different day. Very entertaining.

BEGOVIC BEGOVIC BEGOVIC

Another terrible nights sleep for me but one where I woke and had a weird feeling it might be raining. Weird because our fans were on and you can't hear anything above them, plus I am deaf in one ear from the lake water being in it. I got up and went outside to remove the towels that we left drying and it was indeed raining, just spitting, but still raining. Whoooooooooooo weird lady!

New app I was told about today. Love it

For breakfast we had waffles heated in the router toaster with fruit. The boys all like Nutella on theirs but I like maple syrup which we also forgot to buy. Honey was good enough though. It was nice to have some fruit for breakfast. Huffle and Small went out much later for cakes from the bakery and brought back maple syrup and strawberries for me (my lovely family).

After breakfast we played chess (we found another set so two games were played at the same time) and then several games of UNO in the shade. It was very hot and we collected our stuff and headed for our local beach. The boys went down first and we were surprised to find them under the Sportbrella, which they had put up themselves, reading together. Small and I went for a little walk and then he abondoned me for a swim back to the others who were playing catch in the water. I carried on walking and got to the point the other end that we haven't walked to before. It was a long walk and it was very hot but I mainly walked along the shoreline half in the water, half out. At least that has satisfied my curiosity for what is further along the beach - NOTHING. It seemed completely inhabited and unreachabl e but beautifully isolated too (my favourite). I did wave at the others but they said I looked like an ant and couldn't really see me.

We took our lunch down to the beach today which consisted of sandwiches and a club. But then we suddenly craved doughnuts and Huffle had a headache so off he went to get painkillers and took Small with him and they drove off to the bakery and the supermarket. Smallest and I played French Cricket, built a sandcastle and swam. When the others got back, after a quick cool off in the lake, we sat and ate our alternative doughnuts (the bakery only sells what they make that day and today they didn't make doughnuts).

We had an interesting game of cricket where we had two fielders in the water, one bowler and one batsman and we changed it round everytime someone got caught out. It was a lot of fun and our fielding beluga whale did a lot of diving and swimming after the ball.

Goderich, which is our nearest town, has been under severe thunderstorm warnings all afternoon and we watched the clouds carefully. When they started to turn slightly, we left the beach and one by one had our showers. It started to thunder slightly as Small and Huffle left the beach (Smallest and I had already gone) and we quickly emptied our bags and hung wet things up before the rain came down. The clouds certainly had some amazing formations this afternoon/evening. We got into the car just as it started raining and then while Huffle was driving through Goderich there was a huge crack of lightning that was loads of forks at the same time. Now we know Huffle is a not a fan of storms but he started shouting "BEGOVIC BEGOVIC BEGOVIC" What he actually wanted to shout would not have been appropriate with the kids in the car, even though they knew what he meant. Everytime there was lightning afterwards he stepped on the brake. Silly bugger, he didn't even know he was doing it. Luckily there was no-one behind us. We got to the place we were going to eat and sat in the car park for a while and then ran like crazy to get inside. We chose a very popular place this evening at the top of a hill overlooking the lake. It was crazy busy and we had to wait for about fifteen minutes just to get a table but there was no way Huffle would have gone outside for a while so we just waited. Eventually we got a table and we knew the wait for food was going to be long but we had our Monopoly Deal cards with us, several tv's to watch and live music.

It was really noisy and my deaf ear was causing me trouble, not knowing where sounds were coming from, plus the music was loud too. Our game was played using sign language. Smallest didn't play as he was tired and hungry and watched the TV. Our food was okay, I had been craving vegetables and nothing fried and I had a grilled Salmon with Honey Mustard and a baked potato. I don't think I have had a baked potato in all the time we have been in Canada (it's not really a Canadian thing to do with a potato) apart from when I have made it myself of course. It's a shame it didn't come with veggies but I did have a salad.

Caramel Caramel Cup, Orange and Pineapple and Crazy Coconut

Our neighbour told us that the Piper piped down the sunset on Fridays at the lake front so we went for a look but we were too early so went back up to the Main Square and had an ice cream, a wander and then drove back down to the front. There were plenty of cars driving round but no sign of the bagpiper. We parked up to watch the sunset which was obscured slightly by the large family having their bath night and also the clouds.

Back to the house, storm over but still a weather warning in effect. They seem to think we will be getting hailstones later and the warning is up until 2:59am. Very precise!

Goofy sherves Shoup for Shure.....you're welcome

What a terrible nights sleep. It was really hot and we had every fan on in the house. They were so loud. I tried to imagine they were the sea with crashing waves but that just annoyed me more. My tongue also swelled up a bit and seemed far too big for my mouth - I don't think that was a dream because I got up and had some painkillers! Small said he had a good nights sleep. Huffle was disturbed too but because of me. Smallest slept like he always does, very peacefully. Today he had his last steroid medicine and was very happy about it. He is so much better, I can't believe what a difference it has made.

Breakfast today was Mummy's scrambled egg in MrWhites pan on a slow burning ring. I think I overcooked them waiting for the toast. However we have now decided that the toaster is a better router than the router itself. We plugged in the toaster where the router sits (as plug sockets are at a minimum) and we decided we would write the password (the correct one) underneath it. Thereby making a piont about how useles his wifi is. After a couple of games of chess, we collected our beach stuff, packed the car, wrote our shopping list and headed for the supermarket. We didn't need much but our first supermarket we abondoned due to the fact they had no raspberries or bananas.

Boys messing with the toys

The one next door had everything we needed except we picked up some strawberries and they disappeared between the inside of the supermarket and our cottage. Strange! Everything got stuffed into the coolbox and we made our way to Kincardine.

Wind turbines a-plenty

We went here in 2013 (I was reading the blog to see whether we liked it there or not) and one of the boys favourite places to eat was The Hawgs Breath Saloon. I think the big attraction of 2013 was that they got to sit at the bar and they felt like Charlie Big Pants. Today we couldn't fit in at the bar so we chose a table. We ate soups of Chicken Thai, Red Pepper and Goats Cheese and Potato Leek and Bacon. With that came Garlic bread for Small and I and Pulled Pork for Smallest and Chicken Parmigana of Huffle. I also ate half of Smallest's salad for him. It was very nice, made so much better by our waiter who had a very comical way to his speech. Everytime we said thank you (which was a lot, well we are British after all) he said Youuuuu're Welcooooome. It reminded us of Goofy and Smallest was seen to be peaking under the table to check if he planted his right foot in the same way as Goofy. Whenever he spoke he had a very sing song like slant to his voice and added SHhhhh's to all S Words. YOU WANT SHOUP? FOR SHURE! SHOUNDS GOOD! We were very giggly.

As our dinner wasn't huge we ended it with a walk to the ice cream shack. Now this server could have done with some training from Goofy as he was miserable and lacked any personable skills whatsoever. Our SMALL ice cream was huge and we all had Skor Bar Crunch which was very acceptable for a wander down the Main Street, looking in the shop windows.

When we were sitting having breakfast this morning we noticed a kind of mist that we first thought was smoke coming over the tops of the trees. It carried on with no smell and we soon realised it was from the lake. We could see the mist all along the lake front as we drove. When we arrived in Kinkardine the lake was completely covered in mist or fog and it was impossible to see more than 100m in front of us though occassionally it cleared so we could see a lot more. It was very strange and nothing I have ever seen before.

The boys swam in the lake but it was much cooler in there today. The sun never really peaked out through the mist but it was still warm enough to sit in. Small and I walked to the concrete wall dividing the harbour and along it but when we got to the end we couldn't see Huffle and Smallest at all. When we got back they walked to the lighthouse. Again they couldn't see anything. We played a couple of games of UNO, a couple of games of Monopoly Deal and built a sandcastle.

Our tea was on the beach and consisted of the leftover pizza and a decadent biscuit. We were joined by George the seagull who gave up in the end as we were just too hungry to leave even a crumb for him. We abondoned the beach early today as the mist did not seem to be clearing and the boys were getting chilly without the sun to warm their bodies.

Smallest's team played a game tonight and they lost 6-1. At what point are they going to realise it is demoralising for the boys to constantly lose so badly. Why did they have to put them up two tiers so quickly. Idiots!

A glass in a glass? One of MrWhites novel glasses!
