No Viewings me hearties

Open Weekend - what does that mean?  Why would that make people want to see your property more than normal?  Well Saturday is over as far as the Estate Agents are concerned so that's no viewings today - and none booked for tomorrow yet either.  Only half a day for the Estate Agents tomorrow so not looking good so far.

Today Smallest went to Bear's 3rd Party.  It was Pirates and Princesses.

Double booked

Well this is a good day eh?

Last week I rang my local village hall and asked if I could book a party for Small's 8th birthday. "Oh yes" they said, "of course as long as it is after 1pm". Fantastic I thought and promptly booked a bouncy castle and a bouncy slide. Small and I set about making invitations for all his friends. We told our family and friends and organised what food we were going to have.

Today I handed out some invitations to Small's school friends (well their mum's), and was told by one of the mum's that they had the hall booked for the same time. WHOOPS.

I have just received a phone call from the person who is in charge of keeping the diary for the village hall. Oh dear. She said "I'm sorry, but it's not my fault" even though I told her I had booked inflatables and sent out the invitations. "I can't do anything about it" she said. ooh I was a little cross with her. "Who am I talking to?" she said.

It is I - Famfa of the Village - don't you know who I am?

I obviously didn't say that - but i wanted to!!

It appears that the person I spoke to was only looking after the diary and didn't really understand what the diary said blah blah blah. No-one wants to take responsibility for the mistake.

Anyway I have now rebooked the party, rebooked the inflatables and attempted to contact the invitees.

The party is now on my birthday - "Happy birthday to me" - I will be spending the day making jam sandwiches and baking cakes.

HAPPY DAYS

The house now has it's for sale sign up again and the open house weekend is now back on.  FINGERS CROSSED

That's not my old dryer is it?

I would like to tell you the story about my Tumble Dryer (sorry if I am repeating myself over any of this but I need to get it off my chest).

Our tumble dryer started making a big bangy type of noise about 2 weeks ago. I called a firm I found on t'internet, who said they would be out to have a look.

Mr. Doom and Gloom visited, looked at it, insisted it was a problem with the bearings or the drum and would cost between £50 and £80. The call out charge was £20. If I bought a brand new one it could cost about £125ish. If I bought a second hand one from them it would cost £70 free delivery and no call out.

I decided to go for a second hand one (bearing in mind I only need it for a couple of months). Mr. Doom and Gloom (I named him that because he spoke in a maner that inferred he had had a bad life and everyone else was to blame, Canada was a cold country, they sacked you "just like that" etc etc.). Before he went he took a bag full of pears (I said he could) and then started to pick the apples off our tree before I told him to stop.

I had to wait for about four days and then Mr. Twit (so named because he had a really long beard like Mr. Twit from Twits Roald Dahl) came and delivered me a second hand dryer that didn't heat up!? And smelt badly of cats. I rang and asked them to take it away and either bring me another that did work or give me my money back. They took it away and said they would ring. The didn't.

I rang them again a few days later and they said I could have a different one as the one they bought me had broken! (really?!)

Anyway, Mr. Doom and Gloom has just been and bought me my other second dryer. I looked at it and said "you wouldn't have bought me my original broken one back would you?". He laughed as only a man of gloominess could, and said "it's a very popular model" I looked inside, pulled out the fluff collector and could tell instantly that it ws mine (sad aren't I?).

He laughed gloomily again and said well look at it this way............... Blah blah. Basically my old one was repaired and I now have 3 months guarantee on the whole machine, whereas if they had fixed it in the first place I would have only had the part guaranteed but can you believe the cheek of the company.

I shall name and shame this company because although I have come off okay, he did originally tell me my machine would be dumped as it wasn't worth fixing and selling on.

D.R. ELECTRICAL

I asked him if he thought this was dodgy and he said no. He then proceeded to ask if he could take a few apples off the tree. I told him no- he could pick a few off the floor if he must but that I would watch him.

He said gloomily "don't you trust me?"

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU DODGY GLOOMY LITTLE APPLE PINCHING MAN

There I feel better for that rant.

Gutted

Am absolutely gutted. As you may know the house is now off the Market. The buyers have now offered £7,000 less.

We have rejected their offer.

The house is now back on the Market.

To make matters worse, we have just booked our trip to look at houses and schools in Canada.

I won't swear but I am fuming.

18th Party

It was cousin HB's 18th Birthday yesterday and last night we went to her family party.

This is the lovely HB

and this is her cake - wasn't she sweet?
We played Pass the Parcel with forfeits (we always have forfeits at our family parties - the sillier the better).

"Oh Man, Why wasn't it me?"
Smallest and Cousin D

MrsB reading her forfeit with Smallest looking on

MrsB's forfeit was to hold Uncle Pear's Trophy and wish she was him!

Lots of sweets were flying around and lots of balloons.  Kids loved it.  They got to try Sherbert DipDabs (remember them?)  Smallest's face when he tried the sherbert was the funniest thing.  Small swapped his sherbert for Smarties - Very Wise Small.

We were trying to organise a chinese take-away!
Dor (she's 90) with what looks like a very big balloon - Perspective!

Dor and Aunt Pear
Grandma, Mr Brownie and Cousin HB (she loves having her photo taken!)

Aunt Pear and Cousin HB with the Firework Cake - we were a little worried as the flames NEARLY hit the ceiling!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COUSIN HB - WE LOVE YOU XXXXXXXXXX

Smiles, Shades and Signs

Yesterday I went to my old village playgroup (where I took Small and Smallest before school).  Although I didn't have any children with me it was nice to catch up.

This is them posing

What's the time Mr Wolf?
The Farmer's in the den

Last night Huffle and I went to see Adele in concert

OMG - She is wonderful.  The concert was fabulous.  Adele is Amazing.  She spoke loads, she sang brilliantly, she waved at people lots.  She laughed, she apologised for not dancing.

This is my friends' light up ring with Adele in the background - squint and you can see her

It was the first concert she has done since being really poorly with Laringitis and a chest infection - you wouldn't have known - she sang better than her albums if that's possible.

She is a STAR.

And the back of her stage was filled with loads of lampshades. COOL.

Today I went to visit my dear friend Em.

This is what she bought me as a leaving present

Ahh bless her, I wonder what flower I would be?

Here is her darling gorgeous daughter

She has another one but she was at school - Sorry H!

When I came home this is what I saw

Solicitor just rang and asked when we were moving to Canada - She didn't know the house was sold - Oh dear - lack of communication there somewhere - she is ringing the Estate Agents now and will get back to me.
