A terrible nights sleep for all grown ups last night. Moo woke up at 3am thinking it was 8am and then struggled to get back to sleep. Huffle woke at 1:30am with neck pain which could be a trapped nerve, possibly from too much exercising, trying to rectify his lower back pain. Of course, he then woke me getting out of bed to go and get painkillers. I was then awake until at least 3:15am!!
Quick breakfast this morning and then Smallest and Huffle went off for Smallest's football game. Moo, Small and I joined them just as the game started. In my opinion, Smallest was man of the match making a spectacular save, despite the fact he is not a goalkeeper. We sat by the side of the pitch while Huffle stood on the balcony commentating (this time in an official capacity as the Coach requested his services next to one of the other Dad's who filmed the game). The score was 4-2 and we were the better team. Moo was very entertained.
On the way home we popped to the Church for the 'Young Shoppers' event where the kids pay $5 and get to choose five gently used presents for their family and can then wrap (or get help to wrap) their presents. By the time we got there though, a lot of the items had already been sold so there wasn't an awful lot left. They decided to spend $5 between them and we all got a present each. We will take them somewhere else to get more later like we did last year.
We took Smallest home briefly to change from his football kit and get warm clothes on because we then went to the Tree place to pick out our Christmas Tree. We went to a place we have been to for the last three years. This year the trees didn't seem so tall and we walked the whole area, which is big, and found very little we really liked. We like a particular species, normally Fraser Fir, and a certain height (not too big that it doesn't fit in our room, but not too small that it looks diddy) and a nice rounded shape with not too many bare branches. After much walking, searching, probably 80 minutes wandering, and a brief wagon ride, we finally found one (possibly through desperation and starvation). Huffle cut it down and Moo and I carried it to the tree wrappers. That was the point when I remembered Huffle had asked me did I have any cash and could I bring it with me (I forgot). Luckily we could pay by card and grabbed a quick hot chocolate and hoisted the tree on top of the car, bungee corded it securely and came home for lunch.
The tree was put in its holder and all the Christmas decoration came out. We put the film Elf on the TV and decorated the tree. It took a while, including decorating the house but it looks lovely now. Huffle celebrated by having a hot bath, the boys played on the Wii and Moo and I put up the other tree in Smallest's bedroom. He decorated after he finished playing.
