We had an early start to our day thanks to Smallest's last football game. Scrambled Egg for breakfast and a chat about what Huffle could and couldn't say at the game, including Huffle teaching the kids how to shout at the referee (well they weren't told to shut up!). As it was, when we arrived at the game this morning, Coach told us to shout as much as we wanted and to 'not hold back' as it was the last game and he didn't want it to be 'like a library'. Well, Huffle decided he needed to shout for two games seeing as how his voice missed the last one.
It was a full team today despite one the Dads thinking the game started at 11:00 instead of 10:00. We had a referee that Huffle approved of and didn't feel the need to guide! The boys were a bit sleepy and didn't play at their best. The other team had had a game previously that morning starting at 8am and were definitely fired up. They were stronger, faster and got three more goals in than us (it might have been more). Big Frank had a new better camera that videod at wide angle and he was eager to get home to see how well it had done. However, a room had been hired for after the match and we were all invited for some snacks and cake after speeches about how well everyone had done. We were rewarded with a break of a week for March Break (though not because the coach wanted it, but because the club was shut all week ha!). The Coach decided to get the boys playing a game called 'how many dry crackers can you eat in one go without water in two minutes'. I think Smallest recognised straight away that this was a silly game that he could not win so he delicately ate six crackers, much like he would nibble a biscuit. He didn't win and he didn't care. It was very interesting seeing some of the parents watching. A few were very concerned and insisted their kid spit out what they couldn't consume and some were merely disgusted. It was a strange game to play after an hour of football followed by snacks. We all had cake and the boys were given presents of mainly football tops. Smallest got an England one. We discussed the matter of fees for next season but it was unclear as the amount shifted considerably depending on which coach we spoke to.
We had to leave because we had an appointment to look at a piece of furniture we saw on FaceBook that was being sold. We ended taking two cars as I wasn't happy leaving the kids Home Alone with each other. They haven't been getting on well lately and I feared the consequences. We ended up buying the piece of furniture. It was perfect for next to our front door. We did stop for a hot sandwich on the way home but they were so big we had to bring half of it home and have it for our tea.
Bringing a a new piece of furniture in is never 'just that'. We had to bring it in, move the existing piece, dust and hoover behind and then transport the old piece up a flight of stairs. Knowing that there was much more work involved, we abondoned the moving and decided to take advantage of the glorious weather (14*) and got our bikes out. Once again this wasn't an easy matter as we had to find helmets, pump up tyres and get changed. Still, we had a lovely bike ride up to Frog Hall as Smallest calls it (I think it's really called Toad Hall) which was up a gently inclining hill and then freewheeling down again and along through the Hamlet. There we noticed Batwoman (who we lived with when we first arrived) having her hair cut. We pulled faces through the window and did some sign language to check everyone was well and then we carried on our bike ride. We stopped briefly for a Jelly Baby and Water break and then headed back home. I stopped at the hairdressers to chat with Batwoman and then Robin joined us too. We will definitely get together soon, it's been too long. They are thinking about having me round to do some gardening for them too.
Back home after a brief sit down and a cup of tea while the boys played on the Wii, Huffle and I moved things around, rearranged all the furniture in the Computer Room and ended when we ran out of energy. We warmed up our stuff from lunch and had tea before watching the beginning of Inside Out. This is a film for 5-7 year olds but so far it is quite entertaining.
We have had to call the Granite people out again as we have found some more chips! Not good!!
