The one where we all grew a moustache!

Small went off racing his KubKar and came back with a trophy for 3rd place for design, which means he has to compete again next Saturday. He had a good time. His car didn't race well though because the leaders should have put WD40 on the wheels and they randomly put it on the cubs cars but not on his!

Smallest had a bath and then played on the computer while Huffle and I steelwoolled, varnished, sanded, painted and vacuumed. The stairs (apart from the actual stairs themselves which still need staining) are all done.

Small came home, we had lunch and then Small went off to his friend Cog's house to play. Smallest and I made Chocolate Moustache Cookies using the cutters that Aunty A bought for Smallest's birthday. (Huffle helped).

We went outside and played hide and seek and Piggy in the middle football. Smallest also got his bike out. He has lost all confidence on it and needs to get lots of practice in.

 

Smallest had a new tent/den built and then skyped Grandma and Grandad in there. We picked up Small and ate dinner in front of Gnomeo and Juliet, we ate some moustaches.

Ummm very nice.

Huffle is feeling poorly, full of cold. Small doesn't stop sniffing and blowing his nose. Small seems okay but got very warm later today and had red cheeks. I'm okay and my aches are going.

The Snerfs sat on the Perf

Small and Smallest had waffles for breakfast and it was their idea to photograph and make faces!

After breakfast we all went out. Did a bit of shopping (not food). Small bought himself some Lego. The kids had some new Nerf bullets. We went into Dollarama on the lookout for a boat for Small to use for Cubs on Tuesday. We found a bath boat but decided instead to buy a duck. He is going to race floaty things in a creek. We thought a duck would not only be eccentric but quite floaty.

We drove for what seemed like miles and miles to go out for dinner. We went to a breakfasty brunchy place we have been to before. Huffle and I had omelettes and they were so big we could only eat half, we had to take the other half home. Small had sausage, egg and hash browns and he was very happy to find that the sausages were fried (just like Grandad makes). Smallest had chicken and chips.

It was a sunny day, about 6*. Still cold enough to wear coats but nice. We drove home. Small and Smallest played outside with frisbees, hoops, footballs and on the swing and slide. Huffle and I sat on the sun room which was about 25*. Lovely.

The clouds were quite spectacular today.

Smallest went off to Beavers which today was held at Toad Hall where the horse auctions are. Huffle stayed with him.

Small and I repotted the peppers and Aubergines and then played frisbee and moved a bit of tree that fell off in the storm. We came in and painted the KubKar, positioned the plants and then Small built his Lego in between doing his homework.

Huffle and Smallest came home, they hadn't bought a horse, Smallest played on the swing in between helping Huffle cut down the storm broken Juniper. Huffle nearly got stuck up in the tree.

He carried all the cut bits down to the bottom of the garden. We skyped Grandma and Grandad.

Huffle and I played a few games of Table Tennis while the boys had their tea and watched TV, and while Small watched wrestling, Huffle, Smallest and I played with the remote control car.

The boys went to bed. I read to them while Huffle watched Stoke lose to Aston Villa - oh dear.

The Invisible Man

More snow. Lots of flurries, not really settling but after yesterday's beautiful sunny day, the temperature has dropped considerably. PAH!

I woke up with a headache this morning that stayed till the afternoon and I just felt soooo tired all day. Possibly the overindulgence of exercise yesterday. My body aches!

Small DID get double money from the Fairy for his tooth so Grandma WAS right after all. He went off to school leaving Smallest and me at home. Small had a shower this morning and after he had gone, I went into the bathroom to prepare a shower for Smallest. This is what greeted me.

Smallest and I have laughed about this all day. It reminded me of the invisible man or the incredible shrinking man.

After showers and a general tidy, and a tent built in the living room out of three blankets, two chairs and a sofa, we went off to Knitting.

Smallest was very happy at this because it meant he could play on the IPad, which of course has been taken away from the boys indefinitely! Small was not pleased when he heard. We had a few new people there today, one even a younger person with young children. Smallest was very well behaved and I didn't hear a peep out of him, but because of my head, I decided to leave before 12. We came home and had lunch.

Ring Pops should be banned.

This afternoon we played in the tent, with the castle, built three puzzles, played catch, smallest read to me while I crocheted and he played on the Computer.

Small came home complaining of a tummy ache and a blocked nose. The kids had their snacks and we went off to get petrol and then to swimming. Small didn't swim as he didn't feel well enough. Smallest was in a new class with a different teacher and five other kids. He didn't get to swim as much as before as there were more in the class but he enjoyed it and he swam well.

We came home, Huffle was already there with our dinner cooking. Small (miraculously recovered) and Smallest (very cuddly and tired) played in the basement while Huffle and I carried on with the KubKar. There are rules to how much weight can be added. The weights have to be flush with the bottom of the car. You can't do this, you can do that! It has to weigh no more than 145g on THEIR scales and so far it weighs 142g on our digital scales. Ridiculous. It races on Sunday.

I was given a book by NoCustard the other day (she used to be a Kindergarten Teacher). It is called 'How to talk so kids will listen......'. I have been trying out the techniques and they work. However Smallest said to me this evening "can you please stop talking like that and go back to your shouting, it's annoying!". So funny!

Stiff

I didn't sleep well last night. You know when something happens and it goes round and round in your head, and the more you think about it, the madder you get? Well that was me. And to top it all, once I got to sleep, I then dreamt about it too. AAArrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhh. So suffice to say, I wasn't in the best of moods this morning when I woke. Small's tooth still hadn't come out.

I made him the smallest of breakfasts but still he moaned and whined and cried. I wanted to grab the tooth and just pull it out, but obviously I wasn't allowed to go near it, so I left him to it. By the time breakfast had finished and he started to brush his teeth, the tooth was hanging precariously. I asked if he wanted me to get it out and he did. I 'gently' (as in Moo's kind of gently!) brushed at the tooth and yay it came out. It is now safely tucked in his tooth pillow and thanks to the great words of Grandma, he is now expecting double money from the Tooth Fairy. When he came downstairs, he said "Thank you Mummy for getting it out". Then he grinned at me cheekily and said "The other one the other side is on it's way out now too". These are the double teeth and I think that's why they are bit trickier. The boys went off to school after emptying the dishwasher for me (one did it with glee and the other like a moody teenager!!).

I had a quick clear around of the house, got my aerobics kit on and walked to my exercise class.

This week it was Circuit Training. I was dreading it. It took me nearly a week to get over the yoga! I nearly slipped on the ice on the way there and I had to wear a scarf (because it was cold not in case I slipped). The sun was out and it felt warmer but there was still an icy chill. The Circuit Training was really tough. It was 40 secs on each piece. OUCH! then some cooling down and a bit of yoga. very good, glad I went but I think I will ache again. Small's arch enemy's Mum was there and today she said Hello and introduced me to someone else. ummm maybe she is just shy! On the walk home it was gorgeous. Much warmer. The sun room was like a greenhouse. 25* inside and 12* Outside.

 

Beautiful. So I grabbed a piece of flapjack and a drink of water and went out to forest to meet NoCustard, Drew and Garfunkel.

The train was coming over the tracks so all the cars stopped just outside of Garfunkels house.

I took Drew and Garfunkel in my car because it seemed silly to go in separate cars. We met NoCustard there and TeaLady and her daughter and granddaughter were also there but couldn't walk straight away. The baby needed changing.

NoCustard, Drew, Garfunkel and I started walking. It was slippy, icy and still lots of snow but it was a glorious sunny day too. It was very hard going and we slipped a few times.

 

The snow made us slower than normal and I don't know if we walked further or we were just much slower but we didn't get home until after 1:30pm. That's nearly two hours of walking!!!

I was starving by the time I got in home and had a plate of toast and a coffee in front of the Good Wife with my poor feet up. After a while it became obvious I was starting to stiffen up so I made it off my bottom and started to varnish the stairs.

I steelwoolled and varnished until the little mites came home. Small is full of the joys of Spring now his tooth is out. He had his hearing and Eye test today at school. everything is good apart from his Colourblindness. we have been told this before but I'm unsure about it. When I took Small for a vision test years ago, they used these colourful charts where numbers and letters were hidden in the colourful bubbles. Small couldn't see them all and neither could I. I'm not colourblind and I think he is ONLY slightly. Sometimes I have problems between dark blue and black and he has similar issues. However, I know it does run in the family.

Smallest played outside on the swing for a while. Small did his homework, smallest payed with his remote control (he calls it a remote comertroll - makes me laugh every time he says it). I made soup for dinner while they played on the computer.

Huffle came home and we all had dinner. Small and Huffle carried on making the KubKar. Smallest and I watched on after playing with the Walkie talkies.

Small and I moved some things around in his room so he has more space. He is now talking about having a TV in there. Ha ha ha ha ! NO!

The boys went to bed and Huffle and I played one game, a close game, of Table Tennis. I think I have pulled something in my leg, probably at circuit training but I guess the forest walk wouldn't have helped. Shame, I really enjoyed it.

Hangin' tooth

Small got up this morning with a new double tooth through without the other one coming out. It looked horrendous. The one being pushed out was just hanging there. I offered to pull it out, but in reality I wouldn't have been able to go anywhere near it. I said I would take him to the dentist but he didn't want to go. He hardly touched his breakfast and wiggled and waggled his tongue around trying to force it out. Poor thing. He went off to school anyway leaving Smallest and I home with MrCash and MrDuck who arrived at 8am.

The men sorted out a crack in the wall, fitted a transitional piece of wood between the kitchen and the living room, varnished a floor board that I had trodden on before it was dry, filled in a piece of wood with a hole and put the light up in the computer room. As an additional favour, they took apart the vacuum, cleaned it thoroughly and put it back together again. Wahooo. They also gave us a quote for painting the stairs and landing which I know Huffle will not go for, so looks like we are doing it ourselves then!

Smallest and I went to the Mall today to take back his remote control space buggy that he broke less than five minutes after opening it! The lady in the shop didn't question it at all and happily exchanged it. I mentioned to her that the buggy seemed to have a mind of its own and went off randomly whether we were controlling it or not. She said that was normal, that TV remotes, Phones etc also transmit the same signal and can cause them to go off! Ummmm interesting. We had a walk around the mall, well I did, Smallest ran around it. I promised him some new underwear for his birthday so we picked up some big boy boxer briefs. Should have been $10.95 plus tax each pack and I bought two packs. There was a 40% sale. I paid $2.10. Now I have never been great at Maths but even I know that's a bargain. Fabulous. That's just over 50c per pair. Hurrah!

We did a bit of grocery shopping on the way home. Once home we had lunch, packed away shopping and then went out to play. It was freezing, so we filled the bird bath up and the bird feeders ..........

and watched a woodpecker right next to us. Smallest played on the swing .............

and then we went inside to play with the new Buggy.

Smallest had a bath while I rubbed down the woodwork on the stairs ready for the next coat of varnish. I even got a bit of crocheting in. We briefly skyped Grandma and chatted about bubbles, baths and the weather.

I received a lovely card through the post today from my thoughtful friend Everett and her family. She said her hubby, LuckySorts went to the local shop (where we used to live) and saw a postcard in there that he thought we should have as a memento.

I absolutely love it. Thank you soooo much.

Small came home, tooth still partly attached - it is a mess. We tried and tried to get it out with lots of howling, crying and laughing (all of us at some point). Poor Small, he is now worried that it will fall out in the night and he will swallow it! He did his homework and played on the computer.

Huffle and I played Table Tennis. Small and Huffle made a start on the KubKar. Smallest and I played with the Bakugans and GoGos. We all watched some videos of when Smallest was a baby and Small was 3 1/2 ish. Can't believe how you forget so much. They were gorgeous.

Huffle and I finally sat down for our pot of tea poo at 8:50 and even then Small came down from bed to ask if we could have another go at getting his tooth out. We tried him biting my finger, which moved it but I wasnt allowed to move my finger. What a palaver.

We had another note from the Royals saying that they had finally got onto dry land, though it wasn't so dry. They were having a thoroughly good time and looking forward to meeting up with some relatives. They also wanted to know if our snow had gone. NO NOT YET!!! Snowed again today.

Princess Di and the Queen Mother

Huffle went off to work. The boys (who now don't play on the IPad, actually played this morning and after school - old style!) went to school.

No snow for them to kick around on the drive anymore.

Clouds (for no other reason than I liked them)

I went off to work. I expected to be replanting millions of Tomato seedlings but they haven't grown as quickly as they expected so four of us were cutting, tying and staking Clematis. Many many species were there including Princess Diana (one of Grandad's), and Queen Mother. It was standing up work today so coffee break was a longer affair. Someone had made Zucchini (courgette) and Chocolate muffins which were yummy and moist. I took in some flapjack. "Flapjack over here is a pancake". WELL THIS IS A SCOTTISH RECIPE MADE WITH OATS! They all had a piece and they loved it. I had to give the recipe to two people. I stayed there until about 1pm. Next week I should be able to get into the garden and do some tidying up.

I came home, had lunch, watched Bomb Girls and then stained the stairs in the loft. I started from the top step, cleaned it all first and worked my way down to the bottom. When I finished I was very pleased with my work until I realised that I had left the lid of the stain at the top. DOH!

I tidied away (apart from the lid) and skyped Aunty Miaow. It was lovely to talk to her, until the boys came home. I was just telling her how different Smallest was and how calm he had become, when he ran in and jumped on me and sat on my head!! Yes well.......... Aunty Miaow and Uncle Tuc want to go to Niagara (is that allowed Aunty A?). I skyped Moo and we chatted about Travel Insurance and then I had a lovely online chat with Mrs ElderflowMeadow. I haven't had a proper chat to her for ages but since I joined Facebook (which I said I would never do) I have discovered the 'chat' feature. Love it. The only downside is I didn't get to hear her lovely laugh. Hopefully we can SKYPE soon.

Small did his homework and Smallest played in his bedroom. We had a brief visit from ClownRose with some chocolate for the boys. The kids the played with their wrestling rings and Lego. You know, proper playing like in the old days - love it.

It has been snowing off and on again, someone today said that it was going to be a colder than normal April (oh dear G&G - bring a jumper).

Huffle came home and we all had dinner. Small tried to iron his uniform and then went off to cubs. Today they are fine tuning their KubKars, using a bandsaw - I do hope that he comes back with all his fingers!

Smallest blogged about his party at the weekend and then we all played Table Tennis and played with Smallest's new Walkie Talkies.

Smallest is very tired after a day at school. He has had four days off and today must have been tiring for him because he is very tetchy and easily upset. MrCash rang this evening and is coming round tomorrow first thing to finish off a few things, so Smallest and I will have a lazy 'in' morning at least.

Croods

Last night Huffle used his new Egg Slicer present. He said it made him remember the Cricket Tea days.

It slices mushrooms well too, I tried a banana this morning but it wasn't quite right!!

The sun was shining so brightly though our bedroom window this morning. It was beautiful. However, it did snow on and off all day and the temperature has dipped. There is also a bitter wind (and Grandad's not even here yet ha!). The snow is very much disappearing. Thank Goodness.

Cyril is now fully emerged and Ducky has his neck craning out. There are bits of green grass poking through too.

By 9am, I had already text Huffle at work to tell him to come home and that he couldn't leave me here at home with the boys. Before 9am, Smallest had ripped the top of Small's toenail off, broken the antenna off the remote control car he had for his birthday and Small had left Smallest in the basement with no lights on. There was much running about, screaming, shouting, fighting. (From all of us - me included!).

I regained power and got them dressed and Small doing his homework. Smallest and I built a castle from a book Grandma had sent for Smallest's birthday. Order was returned, if only for a short while.

We skyped Grandma and Grandad and Moo and they watched while we put the castle together bit by bit. Once Small's homework was done we all played a bit with the castle and then had a quick sandwich before we drove to our local Town to the Cinema.

There was a huge queue. It is a very small cinema and is normally empty when we go but obviously no-one knew what to do today so they all piled in to the tiny cinema to see The Croods with us. We had to sit on th second from front row.

It was a good film - the kids loved it.

We came home. The boys played with their Lego and wrestling rings. Aunt Pear skyped and we got to talk to her, HB and CousinPest. Smallest played the trumpet for them. He didn't know the National Athem but did know the Canadian National Anthem (only because they HAVE to sing it everyday at school!).

I made Meatball and Beetballs and then we all had a game of Disney Monopoly. The boys played on the Wii while I finished dinner. Huffle came home and we all ate.

Smallest and Huffle boxed and wrestled and we all played Monopoly Disney. Huffle won and the boys went to bed. Huffle and I played TT.

Phew, it's been a tough day today. At some point during the night, someone stole my patience, I hope they bring it back tomorrow!
