Everyone slept well. The 'poorlies' are getting better. Huffle went to work and boys went to school. Moo and I sat and did the jigsaw and breakfasted very leisurely until we decided we had to move and go and find the Ice Chopper - we didn't phone we risked it! The driveway was worse than ever.
When we arrived at the shop we were told to go next door. Once next door, we were told to go to the other next door and ask for Carol. In the other next door, Carol was waiting for us with the heaviest 'Ice Chopper' ever! We put it in the car and then drove to Whitby where we walked around a Kitchen Shop and picked up some birthday presents and some Christmas presents and a few things for us. We loved it. Then we went on to another shop where we bought a few more things and had lunch in Starbucks. We shared a panini and a cake. Then we went into another shop where we picked up lots but bought nothing. All tired out from shopping, we drove home.
We started on the ice breaking as soon as we got home. It was very hard work, the ice was about 3" thick and after much breaking and lots of shovelling, Moo and I were well and truly done in. I lost the sensation in my thumb and think I may have done something to the nerve from the constant pounding of the chopper. We came in and had a warming cup of tea and a bit of jigsaw and then went out and did a bit more. When I realised I couldn't use my thumb I gave in but Moo stayed out and did a bit more.
Huffle came home early with the intention of removing all the ice but soon found out how difficult it was. However, he did toil away for ages and Moo helped him again and they also got the Christmas lights down. Both Moo and Huffle had problems later on with their fingers, wrists etc. Oh dear what have we done?
Small did his revision for Social Studies and wowed us all with his knowledge of the Canadian Goverment, Political system and responsibilites. He has a test on Monday. I had a call from his teacher today and I told her he would need some holiday for our trip to the UK. She was fine with it and we talked about him being tested for being Gifted. She said the woman who tested them thought it was a waste of time if we were not planning on moving him to the Gifted School. We disagree slightly and we have still asked for him to be tested and we will go from there. They do the testing at the end of this month. Small's friend came to play and the three boys played on the Wii. Huffle walked him home across the back of our garden and into the back of theirs and they all ran home exhausted!
We had dinner, the boys had showers and then we all played Mousetrap. Very funny. Smallest won. A bit of TV and then they went to bed. We watched another Bake Off.

That will be an interesting result as he is certainly a bright little spark. Surely schools can offer the level of curriculum required for each child? ( although why I of all people would assume that I do not know!) anyway can't wait to see you all xx
