Grandma and Grandad Arrive

Small and Huffle went off to work and school. The sun was out. The house was tidy. Smallest and I got ready slowly, check the flight status of Grandma and Grandad's flight, which believe it or not left early (how often does that happen? never to us that's for sure). Smallest finished their banner and we drew some extra bits on the back.

Concentration

Smallest collecting the mail

At about 10:30 we left home with some sweets for the journey and a pair of indoor trainers. smallest came home with his indoor shoes on yesterday, so we needed to take them back to school and swap them for his outdoor trainers (So complicated). We filled up with petrol and were on our way.

We got to the airport to find out the plane had landed. We positioned ourselves so that we could see them coming out and they would clearly be able to see us.

While we were waiting, we got chatting to an English Lady who had only moved here last October, we were swapping relocation stories. We were there for a while and I turned around and there was Grandma and Grandad coming towards us (not from the exit they should have been coming from) both waving England flags. They got in the wrong queue and came through 'connections'.

There was a lot of hugging (it was quite emotional). They read the banner and told us off for not requesting Rolo's. Grandma said that next time they come they will bring different things to the ones we requested.

We went off to find the car (I had noted the number and floor and even taken a photo just in case). Whilst we were still in the terminal a man said to us "car?", and I said "car park", he said "car?" and I said "PARK!" he looked at us very strangely. It was only later I realised that here they call it a parking lot and not a car park, so he probably had no idea what I was saying. He made us laugh though.

We got to the car park, found the number I had parked in, but it was someone else's car there. I was confused. Then I realised we were on the wrong floor. Off we went to the elevator and went down a level. We found my car, just where I thought it should have been. Silly me.

Coming out of the car park was easy enough. Getting on the right road was not quite so easy. 401 East is what I wanted. I had to swerve a bit to get on the right road. Not a good start. I wanted to show them how in control and sure I was onthe Canadian roads. Oh well, there's two weeks left yet.

Smallest sat in the back with Grandad and chatted to him non stop all the way home. Telling him all about Canada and school and his friends.

The first thing we did when we got in was to have a good old English pot of Yorkshire Tea. We sat in the sun room and waited for the wildlife to appear but it didn't. We had a bit of lunch.

Grandad started to empty his suitcase of all the loveliness we had requested, or people had given them to give to us.

All of our loveliness

My jelly - lovely

Lindt Bunnies
Magazines
Yorkshire tea, Freddo frogs, coffee, jelly babies

Easter Goodies

Thank you Grandma and Grandad for all our lovlies

Thank you Madamme Courvoisier for our Easter treats

Thank you Grinmoo for the Lego magazine

Thank you Aunt Pear for the Easter eggs

Thank you Aunty A for Smallest's camera

Mr Royal popped by and delivered a bag of clothes for Small and a box of toys for the boys. They were from his grandson who had outgrown them. His mum (who we met at the Easter egg hunt) had been clearing our the basement.

We could also open a toy shop.

Grandad and Smallest had lots of fun playing on the Table Hockey Game.

Every time one of them scored, they had to change ends.

We all sat on the porch looking through the toys, waiting for Small to come home. Huffle beat him to it. I knew he was coming home early but it was very very early. Now this was emotional. Lots of hugs and a few tears.

We all had another cup of tea (proper English thing to do), carried on playing with the toys, catching up on all the news.

Grandad and I went for a walk to the Beer Store and got some wine and beer. Took our empty bottles back and I showed him the other side of the tracks.

everyone moved into the sun room and there was book reading, playing of new toys, chatting, more tea drinking.

Sword fight

We had pizza for dinner which Smallest (little chef) helped me to make. We also finished off Smallest's ice cream cake which made everyone's tongue go a funny colour!

Yuck

Once we had finished eating we all had a walk down the garden and round the barn.

Small and Grandad messing on the IPad.

More playing, more reading and finally bedtime for the boys. Grandad got picked to read bedtime stories, he was up there for a long time, we started to think he had fallen asleep and then he returned.

Grandma reading to smallest

Smallest had some new PJ's for staying dry at night

Time to review all the food they have bought, try and make Grandma stay up a little longer than she wants in order for her to avoid jetlag, and arrange what we are going to do in the following days.

looks like they hv already settled in by the look of the photos, chatting, playing, etc., Grandad being naughty I suspect and we even got one of Grandma - now there's a treat. What a lot of goodies - I'm surprised they got through customs. Must confess to a few tears when reading of your tears, but I hope they were happy tears. You will all have a ball. Can't wait for tomorrow's blog. Aunt P x
