Just Whack It!

Yesterday Grandma and Grandad wanted to buy us a plant to remember Uncle Dermott. We chose to get some Twisted Willow sticks (he loved Willow and made structures from it). We put them in some water to root (however they look geat in the lounge). Once they have rooted we will put them in the garden and then we can cut bits from them, put them in the lounge, wait for them to root and plant them again.

Baaarnaby was recovering nicely last night and is almost dry (slightly stained though).

My favourite photo of the day from the Telegraph is.......

Huffle and Small were back at work/school, both went off okay and on time.

The rest of us had a nice easy morning, playing, eating, drinking, drawing, writing, reading, showering etc.

We then headed out for a walk to the Library. On the way Grandad spotted a plant that he is going to 'borrow' for our garden. Actually we saw it on the way to the Garden Club the other night.

We had a meander down the road and stopped at the library. Chatted to Nana, coloured in, chose and read books and then pottered off to the cafe for lunch. Grandad had a cheeseburger, smallest had his usual grilled cheese and Grandma and I had a Western. Nice.

We walked around the Hamlet and I showed them the house we very nearly bought. Worn out with all the walking and due to the fact that sun was hot, we decided we needed an ice-cream. We walked home. On the way back we spotted Mrs Royal gardening so we stopped and chatted about what plants work where.

I made a pot of tea when I got back but because Baaarnaby was still drying, I invented a new tea cosy........

It's called a Pegotowel - I think it may catch on.

Grandad and I went and 'borrowed' the plant he wanted, walked back whistling and then he planted it. Looks good. The colour scheme on the front of our house will be blue and white. c'mon Leicester!

We lost Grandad for a while and I found him 'tinkering' with the mower. I got the battery for it and he fitted it, got on, started it first time and away he went.

he was loving it. Then Smallest had to have a go.

Then Small came home and he had a go. Huffle missed it all but we messaged him to tell him that Grandad had been abducted by the mower.

Grandad was in charge of making dinner for the boys as Grandma and I were going out to the local (ish) theatre.

The boys loved their dinner, they asked if Grandad could make their dinner everyday. Fried sausages, egg and Tesco Beans. (that's my beans!!!).

Grandma and I made ourselves beautiful and headed to a theatre about 45 minutes away. We forgot to take the sat Nav so relied on my GPS on my phone again. Worked perfectly. We looked for somewhere to have pre theatre dinner but could only find Tim Horton's. We had a toasted bagel and cream cheese and half a muffin.

We found the theatre that was adjoining a school. We walked in and asked where we got our ticket from as we had booked online. A volunteer lady panicked and sent us back through the first door then we got our tickets and went back in again. We were sent to one side of the theatre and then had to walk around the other side to go to the toilets. I went to buy some water and asked for a bottle at the refreshments. I was told I had to buy a refreshments ticket. So I walked across the lobby to the refreshments man and bought a ticket to buy some water. Then walked back to the refreshments and the lady (who I had just left) asked me what I wanted. Water, I just want water.

The production was Hairspray. It was amateur but was of a very good standard. There were people who had never been on the stage before. They didn't all sing brilliantly but they were very entertaining.

The audience thought they were fabulous. We couldn't work out if the audience were family and friends or just not used to seeing such good performances. There was a standing ovation from everyone but us. We are English and we are reserved, so there.

On the way home we decided to go across country. Bad mistake. It was very dark and the roads kept disappearing. It was like Thelma and Louise on a Roller Coaster, however we did laugh all the way home!

We thought the police had come to get us. Was it because we didn't stop at a STOP sign? Or because we didn't give a standing ovation? Or because we drove too fast down a road that disappeared into a black hole? Or because we got into the theatre without a ticket! One thing is for sure, if we go to prison, the boys will be fed on sausages and cream eggs and all the doors will be left open! (Huffle and Grandad, you know what we mean!!!!).

what a good day you had yesterday everyone is smiling all the time. How were Grandma's hockey skills? My fav photo was grandad and smallest on tractor, such happy faces. Small looks taller than grandad on the tractor,& you realise you will never get Grandad off - bet it brings back childhood memories of life on the Evans farm. Aunt Pear.x
