"There's some eggs in it for yer!"

A lovely night's sleep makes things seem so much better. Some lovely comments from some fabulous people also made me feel better - thank you wonderful people.

The boys ran in this morning, jumped on our bed and insisted we got up. It was 8:30am and Huffle and I were enjoying a lie-in but the boys wanted to open the advent calendar and couldn't wait any longer. We said they could open it and show us what they got. Two Werthers and a note saying "the santa parade is today - make sure you don't get run over by MrBlueMan!". (Two years ago Small stood in the road trying to get a blue macot to high five him and he nearly got trampled on). We all got up and dressed and were out of the house before 9:30am where we went to the local Legion and had Breakfast with Santa. We found a table and proceeded to get our breakfast plates piled with pancakes, sausages, scrambled egg, eggy toast and lashings of maple syrup (Well Smallest had lashings because he dropped the jug on his plate!). During our breakfast, someone played "Here comes Santa Claus" on the piano and in walked Santa. (Luckily not the fat cigarette smoking one of last year). Once we finished eating we sent the boys to look at the "blind raffle" (you buy a load of tickets and put your name on them, then add your tickets to the appropriate box for the thing you want). Small came back and said they were all rubbish and he didn't want anything. Fair enough. Smallest found his friend Ew there and played with the balloons with him before sitting on Santa's lap and telling him he wanted a remote control helicopter. Apparantly Santa said "Santa is a good man he will try to get you one". Then Smallest said 'hang on, wasn't HE Santa'. We proceeded to tell him that some people talk in the third person. Think we got away with it. Small also sat 'with' Santa but was quite reluctant to be there.

After a chat and catch up with Ew's parents we left to go to town to look at floor samples for the basement. There were so many to choose from. We know we want a vinyl floor and we think we want a wood look. However, in our Village house we had a wood look vinyl and it was a pig to clean. The lady let us take some sample books home so we can see what we like better.

Once home, I saw Otto in the garden and I told him the chickens escaped yesterday and were heading for the road. I told him I shooed them back into our garden and then through his fence. He thanked me and said "there's some eggs in it for yer". Within an hour he was at our front door with a dozen eggs. He said it was a neighbourly thing to do, that they get five eggs a day and he hoped the chickens weren't too much trouble. Ahh that was nice. Egg sandwiches for lunch then.

Small did some homework. He has to find a Government Issue article and summarise it. Later he has to find how the issue is progressing and how he would solve the problem. He is basing it on the 'Pickering Airport'. Smallest did his computer maths and played on the computer, Huffle was very excited as he watched his beloved football team beat Chelsea and I drank coffee (legion coffee was far too weak for me) and blogged.

After an eggy lunch we went off to watch the Stouffville Santa Parade. It was cold. -2 (feeling like -9) so thermals, coats, hats and gloves were needed for standing around. Huffle wore the strangest of outfits. Thermal bottoms, fleecey PJ bottoms, dead man trousers, two pairs of socks, thermal long sleeve top, tee shirt, fleece and coat, plus a snout warmer, hat and hood. I have to tell you though that he was the warmest of us all, despite the fact he looked like a scarecrow! (I had to tell you because he said I had to!!).

Ooooh it was cold.

We didnt have to wait too long for the parade and while we did wait we were offered free hot chocolate and hot dogs. We declined the hot dogs as we were full of Otto Egg sandwiches. We like this parade best of all because it is the funniest. We think it's something to do with the 'hillbilliness' of the town.

Huffle's favourite. He wants to join the Rameses Shriners just so he can wear silly costumes at parade times.

A hot tub on the back of the lorry with half naked men - ummmm this gets my award for inventiveness. Plus a chicken sitting on a sofa? Well why not!

We saw three grinches - this one was our favourite and a random very small bus that we have no idea who was controlling it.

Huffle especially liked the man with the short legs!
We were standing next to the speakers which were playing loud Christmas music when the floats weren't playing any - Michael Buble singing 'Santa Baby' but he changes the words and adds 'Dude', 'Guy', 'Pally', 'Bebby' and 'Poppy' and instead of saying 'hurry' says 'huyy'- arrgh I don't like it!!!!!
I like Michael Buble and he is Canadian of course but I cringe every time he says one of the words above.

Here he is, the main man. "That's the second time I've seen him! Where are his glasses?" Says Smallest. The police cars finish the Parade. "Let's go" says Huffle, and we bundle off towards the car and get warm again.

At home the boys were sent to their rooms for jumping on the furniture and then came down looking all sorrowful (well Smallest did, Small needs to work harder on his sorry look) and they played on the Wii.

Huffle and I made a hearty warming soup for dinner and then we watched half of The Grinch. The boys went to bed and we watched IACGMOOH. We couldn't believe Joey left last night but were not at all surprised Lucy left tonight, we are not fans. KIAN to win though we don't mind David either.

P.s. The water is tasting fabulous and there are no smells. Wahooo. Another one crossed off the list.

What a fab parade, certainly a sense of humour behind some of those ideas! Xx
