Happy Birthday Frank IIII

Due to the inadequacy of the window coverings, the sunshine woke us all early. Everyone, except Huffle was up well before 8am, the boys playing quietly on their tablets In Small's room and me sitting outside in the shade enjoying the early morning sun and bird song. I wandered down the garden to see the river but was disappointed. After looking at the maps, it appears it is not at the bottom of the garden but on the other side of the road.

Making my Morning coffee was an interesting experiment. It seems the owner has bought a new coffee machine that either filters ground coffee or uses the Keurig pods. The palaver over filling it with water, turning it on and setting the correct program took forever. Now I know why I use the simple Cafetiere method. Grind your beans, add water, push down, drink. I ended up filling the water, emptying the water, adding two cups because it didn't ever stop and then trying to drink a really bad cup of coffee. Can't work out if it's the make of coffee or the machine. And the mess it made dripping the coffee through too! Won't be buying one of those in a hurry.

Huffle decided to go off to the supermarket by himself and pick up essentials before breakfast and when he got back we all had toast and homemade jam and proper coffee. We packed up our bags and car and headed out to Ipperwash Beach. We set up our Sportbrella for shade and our chairs and went out into the lake for a cool. Today's temperature was 30* (feels like 34*). It was very hot and despite all of our suncream Application, we were probably out in it for far too long. Everyone is looking a little pink, Huffle edit (except me, as clearly I'm the sensible one)

It's in lake, grandma in lake, idiot ploughing sand, small lying on lake

We had plenty of swimming, body boarding, though the only waves were created from the passing JetSkis and motor boats. This was a very busy and noisy beach. Sunday in the Summer Holidays was bound to be busy but the noise!!! We sat near a very beautiful house that overlooked the lake with a lovely little guest house next to it. Beautiful lawns and landscaped gardens with steps that lead to the beach. Unfortunately some silly old codger lived there or thereabouts with a tractor and decided to 'plough' the beach in front of the house for the whole of the morning and part of the afternoon. Small says he was ploughing. I say he was an idiot! He moved the sand around and around and ended up with a smooth bit, just like it was before he started. What with his constant tractoring and the Jet Skis bombing about left right and centre - it was very noisy. Sometimes I wonder why I bothered having my ears syringed. However it wasn't a horrible noise, just not a very relaxing noise like you would expect from a lovely beach.

View from road, walking, boys in lake, seagulls, mummy reading
Lots of playing, seagull, clouds

The boys had a fabulous time and both decided it was the best beach we have been on. I got to read lots of my book and put my feet up as well as swim and play. The lake water was lovely and clear and not too cold. It was like bath water next to the beach and a bit cooler further out. We played with the body boards a lot and the boys and Huffle played a lot of catch in the water. It wasn't really the kind of beach where you could play cricket or jackers as it was quite narrow again.

Sunshiney water, playing, sand castling, catching, drying

We took our lunch on in a Cool Box and had a walk to the ice cream place later. Small and I went first and Chose the best of the two closest and ate them in the shade before walking back and letting the other two know which one to go to while we played and swam in the water. We built a big sandcastle town with bridges, castles, moats, lake and mountains.

Lots of sand dunes and boats

We finally left the beach around 6:30pm and briefly came back to the house to get changed before we went for dinner. Dinner was at a place close by and was nice, not the best but very passable. Once again it was a very loud place. We got given a piece of cake each because it was a man's birthday and he had been given a huge birthday cake which he said he couldn't eat by himself. We couldn't eat it either so we brought it home for another time.

The kids went to bed after being smothered in sudacrem. Both have red faces. Oh dear, I did keep telling them to put cream on and they were but I guess being in and out of the water and staying on a beach for most of the day in 30* is not good!

Apparently the picture above (Which is very close to us and we pass it on the way to everywhere) is a very famous place for sending your kids to the top, letting them run down (it's very steep and there is a road at the bottom! Say no more) and talking their photos. If we take part, it will be when it is much cooler!!

Smallest decided to catch a flying grasshopper thing.
