I thought that he was a Golf Course Landscaper

I didn't sleep very well last night due to the fact that I have gone completely deaf in one ear. This is partly my fault and partly a genetic fault passed on by Moo and Grandmoo before her. Basically we have very tiny ear channels that don't allow the ear wax to disperse and so it collects and collects until it completely blocks the channel. Every so often we have to put olive oil in and go and have it syringed out. Not a completely pleasant thing to have done but one we have become used to having done in order to hear. Now I have been struggling for some time now and putting it off and putting it off, mainly because once you put drops of olive oil into a waxy ear, the wax softens, doesn't come out and consequently you can't hear. There have been too many occasions when I have needed to hear for one reason and another and so have avoided having the drops put in. Since we have been in the pool a lot recently, which doesn't help with waxy ears, I decided I would start the drops last night, giving it a full three days before I went to the doctors and get them to syringe it all out, therefore being able to hear for my holiday and being in those huge waves (don't laugh MrsRumbleskins).

Huffle put my drops in last night (just in one ear because I can't bear to be totally deaf) and I woke up around the dreaded 3am to complete deafness and earache. I was still awake to see 3:33 (that's an odd time on a digital clock) and then again at around 5am though I am hoping I fell asleep in between time. When I woke up (or when Huffle woke me as he was going off to the office today), I was deaf in one ear and the earache had gone.

The boys and I went off to work at the nursery. Today they emptied 176 pots (no plants today) and helped to weed. It rained a little so we went into the greenhouse and potted up geraniums for the Nursery and Amsonia seedlings for the Regeneration Project in the City. Coffee time brought Jan's homemade Chocolate with Chocolate Chunks Oatmeal Iced Coffee Cake (not coffee flavoured, it's just what you call a cake that goes with your coffee). It was very yummy. MrsM had bought Apple Juice specifically for the boys to drink which was very thoughtful. We tidied up the vegetable garden and cut back many plants and harvested courgettes, beans, radish seed (which is a very different thing to radish but is quite hot), lettuce and kale. Small told me off because I said Zuccini and not Courgette today! Whoops!

The boys squash, pineapple lily, begonia flowers floating, kale and droplets of water, courgette and pepper
Canna Lily, Finding Pine Cones, echinacea, strawberry picking, rudbeckia, squash harvesting, having a rest

There were very black clouds and a storm threatened but we just got a bit of rain.

OUR GARDEN. Monarda, Grandmas Rose, Hydrangea, Echniacea and Rudbeckia

The boys and I had lunch and then they played together on Minecraft while I FaceTimed Moo and cleared the kitchen. I left a message earlier for the doctors to call me with an appointment but I was informed my doctor was 'on vacation' for two weeks and that most doctors here do not syringe ears. Instead they refer you to an ENT specialist. She said I was welcome to go to the Walk-in (which is at our doctors but only for registered people) but I must be prepared to know that I might be disappointed and did I want to make an appointment for the end of July when my doctor was back. I couldn't wait that long so I called the other walk-in that we have used that is attached to the hospital and they said (after I repeated myself four times because she could understand what I was saying) that they could syringe my ears if I just walked in. Phew, thank goodness. To celebrate, I got Small to put more drops into my ears. I might even go the whole hog and get them both done at the same time! I suppose I could have had worse things handed down like varicose veins and bunions!

The boys found a nice surprise book in the Post Box today (thank you Grandma).

None of us felt too well today. Our tummies were a bit off and we had headaches, felt tired and a bit sick. Huffle said he had a dodgy tummy this morning too. I don't know if it's the weather or there is something we have picked up but we didn't do much for the rest of the afternoon. The boys mainly played on their tablets or on the Wii. I watched the last episode of Black Work (ITV) whilst washing and drying and warmed up something from the freezer for dinner and then we all went to football. Small and Huffle to Small's game and Smallest and I to Rep practice. There I met up with another Mum (MrsMurnurmunum doo doo doh doo doo) and we chatted for the whole time. She thought that Huffle was a Golf Course Landscape Designer (I wonder where she got that from?). Huffle was keeping me up to date with Small's game via text and he warned me that heavy rain was on the way so I was armed with my umbrella by the time it hit us. Smallest got very very wet but was very happy too. He loves football so much even though his half of the team lost 2-0.

Small's team won 12-8. Huffle edit - keystone cop defending from both sides in torrential rain but another win makes it 4 out of the last 5. His team are improving and the games are always full of entertainment. No controversy this week.
