Drew! We need to get a kiln!

A very hot and humid day today. Moo, the boys and I had breakfast, played a bit more of a Monopoly game we started a few days ago, got ready and then went out. We went to the local town, visited the Thrifty Shop (didn't buy anything), went to the post office for stamps and then got some money out. We took the boys for an ice cream and then we had a coffee while they ate them.

We drove back home. The boys had their first swimming lessons today so we had an early lunch, a bit more Monopoly and then walked/scooted/biked to the ladies house that did the lessons.

There was only two people in each of their classes. At first I was worried that Small wasn't going to be taught anything as she was getting him to do really simple things, but I think she was just seeing what they could do. At the end of the class she muttered something about them being in a too low class but would sort it for tomorrow.

They both enjoyed it. Smallest kept saying to the lady "oh no, I can't do that!". But I heard her say "well you've done all the things so far that you've said you can't do!". I like her, I think she'll teach them something. There are some differences in swimming here but they need to know them. They seem to follow a Red Cross Swimming programme here. She has a diving board. She also gave us some tips on how to get our pool clear. The boys are back there tomorrow.

They had half an hour each and then we walked/scooted/biked back home. It was even hotter and stickier. Very close.

We had a quick drink and nibble and then all got in the pool. The boys were practicing what they learnt and Small was teaching Smallest to jump in properly.

We stopped for homemade pizza on the new outside table and Huffle joined us. Then Huffle and I went off for an evening out at the Garden Club. Tonight it was a Garden Tour. We met up at the Community Centre and got a lift with two of the women there.

First of all we went to a massive garden surrounded by fields in the middle of nowhere.

I would like one of these. Particularly like the fact you can put pots in the top
Beautiful borders, sunken garden, ornaments everywhere. Lovely veg garden and the outlook was amazing.

The owner met us, told us to go where we wanted, told us where the beer and wine was and said to help ourselves (we didn't) and then he drove off. We got to meander around at our own pace, it was lovely.

I like the idea of using old bits of railings to add a feature or for plants to climb up
Next we drove to a small house with a shop attached. The door of the garden said Secret Garden and had a wonderful bath tub outside with wooden and tin flowers.

Wood, tin cans.
Inside it was small but really lovely. The owners made fountains and sculptures and they were everywhere.

Rainbow

We had a talk about how to make a fountain and the owner mentioned her son was called Brewster. Huffle's favourite film is Brewsters Millions and we looked at each other and tried not to laugh. 'very rude'.

One of the women in the group had brought refreshments, so we got to have have drink and cookies.

The owners let us look in their shop. Huffle bought a frog to go on the barn!

All th stones we pick up on the beach! Surely we could make this?
Drew and I decided we were going to start going to auctions and buy odd things and then make them into sculptures and sell them. We discussed what we would need. A welding torch, a soldering iron, oh and we definately needed a kiln. They had some lovely things in there but a little pricey. I am going to have a go at making a fish out of some tin cans.

Two both completely different gardens. Nice in their own ways. It has given us some ideas about our own garden.

We were driven home. Moo was still up. There was a strange burning smell when we got home. We looked around the house and realised it was a plastic lid from the juice container which had fallen through the dishwasher and into the elements and melted a bit. Whoops. Add it to Moo's list of breakables!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LOVELY KYLIE MCNOBE WHO MARRIED HER LOVELY MR SCOTT
