A proper day out at the sea side (well lake!)

Smallest jumped on our bed this morning shouting "Get Up, Get Up, Moo sent me to get you up!". We didn't want to get up particularly but when one child is sitting on your back and the other one takes the covers off you, it's time to get up!

We had breakfast altogether and then I drove Huffle to the Go Station. He was off to watch the Honda Indy Championship in Toronto. It was an invitation through work.

He said he enjoyed it but probably wouldn't go again. The racing bit was noisy and the social part of it was the highlight! Someone drove him home and him and his wife stayed for a cup of tea. They were very nice

Moo and I made a picnic, packed the boys some spare clothes and scooter and bike and drove to a beach about half an hour away. We got there without any hiccups (and Moo was navigating too!). The boys had not been to this particular beach before but they loved it.

They were really really well behaved. They played together so nicely. They built stone castles.....

We had a few passers by comment on how good our 'forts' were.

We had a lovely picnic.

And watched the boats and canoes and jet skis.

The boys buried themselves

It was a lovely temperature today. We mainly sat under the shade of a big old tree but it was just cloudy enough to be comfortable.

Smallest washing his hands.

Moo even got some time to sit and do her crossword and I got to lounge around and watch the boys.

It was such a lovely day.

Smallest made a stone face

Small made a castle with a bit of help from smallest and a bit of help from me.

If you look really closely there are a couple who are sitting in deck chairs in the lake!

Here we all are!

Smallest made a face

I made this face and Moo thought it looked like Huffle!

Busy boys

We spent ages balancing stones on top of each other....

....made a stone henge....

And then had a competition to see how many stones we could get on top of each other. Moo and I managed 12!

Moo walking along the waters edge

Trees (of course)

The boys buried themselves again. The sand was soooo warm.

This was my view lying on my rug

Oh look, Moo is lying down too. lazy English Lady!

The boys running around. It looks like we were on a deserted beach, and it was pretty much deserted. Just a few odd people walking, some walking their WET DOG!!!, a couple with canoes, some sunbathers. But not too many. Huffle says that most Canadians have gone to their summer cottages. That's fine, more beaches for us to explore and play on.

We packed our stuff up and headed to the nearby Fish and Chip shop. Moo was very good and ate all of her fish. She will go back home brainy and brown - who will recognise her?

When we got back Smallest realised he hadn't been on his bike so he biked on the drive until I got Huffle's bike out and cycled up and down the path with him. Moo and Drew chatted about Wimbledon. I bumped into ClownRose's Mum and had a quick chat. Then Huffle came home. The temperature has gone down finally so the air con is off and window and doors are open once again. Lovely - free flowing air. Smallest is on the air bed in Small's room still, just because he wants to.
