Olympics, Spaghetti and three weddings

We all had a bit too much sun yesterday, all of us have red faces, noses, knees, backs. So we decided we were going to have a very slow morning and a late afternoon on the beach.

We had breakfast outside. The boys showered. Huffle and I watched some Olympics and read. The boys played a game on the IPad together. Then we had a quick game of Monopoly U Build until it started getting too warm and stuffy in the house.

We packed a picnic tea, got ready with our beach stuff and went in the car to Port Elgin. Today is Marine Festival and there were buskers in the street, tents up, events happening. We walked along the main street looking at the food places as it was around 1pm. We eventually found a pub. It was nice and cool. We had to wait ages for our food but we weren't bothered as we were playing games, being silly and having a laugh.

The boys had Spaghetti and Meatballs. Huffle had a Burger and I had stuffed Mushrooms. Nice. We even had pudding. Huffle had a massive brownie with ice cream which we had to help him eat as it was too big for him. I had a strawberry shortcake which was like a Scone with fresh strawberries which the boys had to help me with. Small had ice cream and Smallest had a freezie (ice pole) which he sent back because it was cherry and he came back with two orange instead.

Huffle and Smallest playing Squares
Not easy to look elegant whilst eating spaghetti!

Even when you are eight!

We walked along the main street again and watched a band play a few songs. It was very hot. We drove back to the beach and set up our stuff. The boys went straight into the water again. Huffle and I sat under shade of our umbrellas and watched the boys.

The silly billies were sitting on the rope and then one of them would get up quickly and the other would jump up and fall off!!

Our umbrella (sorry Grandma, they didn't sell Union Jack ones) the boys are in the water.

While we were there, there were two wedding parties having their photos taken. There seemed a lot more people on the beach today. Probably because it was a Saturday.

Some weddings

We all swam. Small and I swam a long way out and could still stand up but I got freaked because I could feel hairy bits under feet and I didn't like it (I think it was just lakeweed!).

The boys played Boules many times.

Huffle and Smallest playing boules and Small collecting stones or water

We built a few faces and a few sandcastles and the boys spent ages trying to create a miniature lake. Smallest running backwards and forwards choosing just the right stones to go in the bottom and Small filling buckets up with water. They got to a point where the water stayed in for a while and then disappeared as if a plug had been pulled.

It was such a beautifully shimmering water today
By 6pm we realised we hadn't had tea so we got the cool box out and picnic rug and had our tea watching the people around.

There was a gathering happening under the big flag. A wooden structure with white bits of material hanging on it. Rows of chairs in front of it and more and more people turning up. I looked at the Internet to see if it was something to do with the Marine Festival and found that an hour or so later there was a ghost walk there.

Huffle and Smallest went off to the car and when they came back they informed is it was another wedding.

The bus went back in the water and we watched the wedding (not very clear) and made up our own stories about what was happening, what was being said and what songs were being played by the guitarist there.

Ghost Party or Wedding?
One last swim
One of those freaky footprints again. Is it in or out?
Late enough to swim without tops on
They were in the water but it was hard to see them as the sun was blinding

We basked!

It was gone 7:30pm by the time we got of the beach and it was still very warm.

This is 360* photo taken on the beach. If you have the 360* viewer, it is amazing. Like you are there!

The boys went to bed and slept quite quickly.
