We are on Holiday officially

We got up fairly early this morning and rushed around packing up the car. Huffle wanted us to be out of the house for 9am and we got out at 9:20. That's good for us! We passed lots of interesting towns and many ice-cream shops.

This ice cream shop was called Al PaCones (y'know like Al Capone - ha ha ha - Huffle read it as All Car Pones)

We past a really big wind farm

After three and a half hours of driving non-stop, we were there.

Dinner was fish and Chips in a place that had many games to play. We played Guess Who (animal version) and then ate. Very nice. We walked to the beach. It was just like the video we watched on YouTube where a man attached a camera to a remote control plane - very funny!

There was a huge flag on the front. We watched some kite surfers and then headed off back to the car to find our cottage.

It is very old and has wibbly wobbly floors. We unpacked our bags (though we have a chair each to put our clothes on - that suits us as we don't have to put them away!). No washing machine and at first we couldn't get the wi-fi working.

This is our house for the next two weeks.

The boys test out the sofa

The boys chose their bedrooms and then we realised we should have bought some bedding as we were missing a sheet or two.

We sat outside and watched the wildlife and I instantly relaxed. Now I am on holiday. We saw a couple of robins, a chickadee, some birds of prey circling just above our heads, a squirrel. There is a 30% chance of a storm and it is very cloudy but still very warm. It is so quiet and peaceful here. Ahhhhhhhhhhh lovely.

Small checks out the garden
Cloudy sky

Small climbs a tree

Off we went to find Walmart to buy some sheets and essentials, had a quick look at the harbour and came back. Made sandwiches and walked to the nearby beach.

We didn't have to walk far. There was a lighthouse and an island. A beach full of stones (a lot of heart shaped ones - wahoo my favourite - and loads of driftwood - Huffle's favourite. We are going to put signs up at our pool saying NO BOMBING, NO DIVING, NO PETTING. We are also going to use some of it to make some sculptures for our garden.

The lighthouse - you can walk to this.

Ahhhh there we are Mr & Mrs.

Climbing

Big rocks, big lake

We thought this was a driftwood sculpture but it was in fact a tree root

The sun setting over the lake

Our sandwiches were eaten on some big rocks next to the lake. We walked along the beach picking up driftwood and stones. The boys played with sticks and used them as lightsabers until Smallest got hit in the face by accident.

We walked back.

There's our house again. It sits on the corner

And this is the side with my favourite daisies.

The boys watched Bedknobs and Broomsticks while we sat outside drinking tea.

They went to bed, and messed about, and couldn't sleep, and messed about, and worried about the lights, and worried about the doors....................................... Actually Smallest fell asleep almost instantly. Small took some time because there were dogs barking nearby.

Huffle I sat in the sun room and listened to music.
