Rainy Day

Last night the storms went on until the early hours of the morning. This morning, everything outside was wet so we weren't able to sit outside for breakfast today.

It was cooler, it rained on and off and so after breakfast was cleared away, we played the new Monopoly U-Build. Huffle and I had played it last night so that we knew how to explain it. it didn't seem to hold the boys attention very well but it is a new game and it takes time to get into them sometimes. Then we played Sorry Revenge a couple of times. The boys played with their Go-Go's while Huffle updated the IPad and I finished my knitting and started some crochet.

Look how pleased he is with his new game

We had a bit of trouble again with Smallest today. Not sure if he is tired or just struggling to contain his anger. He has had one or two tantrums, got very angry with each one of us at one time and absolutely refused to get changed to go out!

We eventually got out of the house and walked and scooted to a local cafe/restaurant where we had lovely omelettes. We were going to walk along the river along the promenade but by the time we finished eating it was raining so hard, we decided to head back home.

Scooting in the rain

Smallest wanted to build his dinosaur that he won from our library, but it was very complicated. Once Huffle and I had sorted all the pieces out and put three of them together, Small was bored and wanted to play something else. Him and Smallest played together again and then by mid-afternoon it had brightened o a bit, the rain had stopped and we decided to go out and try to walk again.

Chantry Island

This time we made it. We walked quite a distance. The beach was almost deserted. There are obviously a lot of holiday makers (cottagers - but this does mean something different in the UK!) just turning up. A few people wandering up and down the beach. A few swimming although it didn't look as inviting today.

Last one!

The boys stopped at each park we passed and had a go. Then scooted off again. We did manage to get an ice cream in today. We walked till the promenade stopped conveniently at a park! I walked a bit further to get some photos, and then we walked back the other way.

Swinging on the swings one way

And some more the other way.

There is a vintage car thing going on here tonight and we thought about getting sandwiches and cakes from the bakery and the sitting to watch the cars, but the bakery was closed. We popped into a local supermarket and bought a few things and then went back to the house.

It does look like Huffle has found a porta loo but we think it might be a crossing box!

We had tea in front of the TV. We watched Wallace and Gromit - The Were Rabbit. The boys went to bed and we watched another movie.

A big treat this - watching a movie and having their tea!

Not a great deal was done today but if it had been too warm we would never have walked the prom, and it was something I wanted to do. We have realised that it is not easy being stuck in the house when the weather is bad. Nowhere to hide from tantruming Smallest's, nowhere to escape for five minutes peace. So we are hoping the weather starts to improve soon. It's not forecast so good tomorrow so The boys may get their wish - to watch Ice Age 4 at the cinema - it's 3D - not my favourite. I hate wearing the glasses and I always jump when things come out at me. But if that's what they want to do.....................
