We had a lovely slow Saturday morning. After a croissant breakfast (to welcome Moo), Huffle watched Stoke, the boys showered and Moo, Small, Smallest and I played on the IPads. All the Christmas boxes were collected from the basement and the boys put up their Christmas Trees in their rooms. The house was decorated from top to bottom. It looks very festive.
Aft lunch we drove to the tree farm. It wasn't too cold (last year I remember feeling quite frost bitten). The kids were very silly and bombarded us all, especially Huffle with many many snowballs. Moo and I looked for our perfect tree. All the trees seemed smaller this year. Last year the tree we chose was very wide and we struggled to fit it in, the year before it was very tall and reached the ceiling. This time we chose a modest one, but with a perfect shape and height.
Moo and I found it after wandering up and down plenty and beckoned the boys over. Huffle cut it down and then Moo and him dragged it back to the tree tying place. We couldn't see the tractor and trailer working today so we didn't get a ride. Moo and the boys sat around the fire drinking their hot chocolates and eating their biscuits while Huffle and I secured the tree to the top of my car and then we joined them.
After a nice warm and a snowball fight where Moo got hit behind the glasses twice (HOW?), we secured the tree some more and drove home.
The kids played in the garden for ages building a fort. Next door came past and said they could use her snow if they ran out. Run out? What in Canada? How silly!
Moo, Huffle and I went through all the bauble boxes and sorted out which ones were for the big tree and which ones the kids could have. Eventually the boys came in and decorated their trees and made cards for us all. After their decorating was done, we had dinner whilst watching Elf - such a funny film, I wonder how many times we have seen it?
Moo, Huffle, I and with a little help from Smallest, decorated the main tree. It was lovely and very full. It is so nice undoing all the little packages for each bauble and remembering where they came form or who gave them to us. We have some lovely ones.
