Rocking in the Rain

It was the start of the Premiership today so of course Huffle HAD to watch Stoke play (and lose). I got to paint a bit and then Smallest and I played several games of Guess Who and then many games of Monopoly Deal. Small watched the football and then played with us too.

For lunch we went to Unionville as the Markham Jazz Festival was on. The weather report wasn't good but we managed to walk along Main Street, choose some take away dinner and find cover under a band stand (with no bands playing under it). We persuaded the boys to try some Indian. They had fresh cut fries (which had just been made) with butter chicken sauce. I had a Chana Marsala and rice and Huffle had Butter Chicken and rice. Ours was lovely and the boys did eat some of theirs but in the end it was too spicy for them. We were pleased they tried it though and Smallest had some of Huffle's chicken and Small ate some of my rice. The rain came down really heavily as we were eating and although we couldn't see any bands, we could hear them. There was nothing else to do but take selfie photos (which the boys kept photo bombing).

When the rain stopped very briefly, we popped into an Italian cafe and the boys chose a Gelato (one had chocolate and one had lemon) and Huffle and I chose a donut each which we took home for later. We took cover under a tent and watched the Jazz Youth Band. They were amazing. It was quite windy and their music sheets were blowing away but they carried on very professionally.

We visited the TD Bank stand and dressed up as rock stars and we had our photos taken. I think we were a very cool band. The boys got given balloons, Smallest's popped and they had fans (though we used them as umbrellas). There were fudge samples on the sweet shop which we had to try and then we watched a lady sing (she had a fabulous voice).

The weather got too bad for us and we went towards the car, but the boys wants to see the Toogood Pond so we briefly crossed the bridge. We watched ducks trying not to fall over the waterfall and other ducks landing. It was far too wet so we drove home.

The boys watched Tv and played on the IPads and Huffle painted. Small and I went to the library to see if we could get any piano music books but we had to order them. I helped Huffle paint some more and then we all played Monopoly Deal until tea time.

What a very very wet day. We are hoping to go to the Zoo tomorrow.
