Pallets, Pants (or lack of) and Peas

Apparently today is the first day of Autumn or Fall (someone needs to tell Grandads trousers that fall was not at the weekend, ie them falling down). Huffle worked from home and late in the day cut down a tree that blocked the landing window. The boys went to school, Smallest on the bus and Small and his Tuba in my car. That thing is bloomin' heavy and despite its wheels, it is difficult to manoeuvre. I went off to work leaving Grandad painting his pallets and Grandma ironing.

Today I weeded and replanted a semi shaded garden with Anemone, Geranium, Allium Thunbergii (some of which I brought home) and Monarda. I woke up this morning with a trapped nerve in my shoulder blade area and found the weeding and replanting not too bad but after coffee (and Grandmas scones which everyone loved) I started to deadhead the flox (of which I also brought some home plus lots of seed heads for the boys to sprinkle). This really aggravated my back and I had to leave early.

Huffle manipulated my back once home and relieved it slightly. I went to check on Grandads progress and we ended up digging out hundreds of bricks (which I will use to create a path from the back side gate through to the front garden), quite a few slabs and half of the garden. We made a slab path and put the painted pallets in place. We did stop for lunch and a quick Skype with Moo and then we worked tirelessly until the new garden next to the path was planted with lilies and the fire pit was loaded for the next fire.

Brackets, chicken wire and a slatted door will finish this job. Grandad is very pleased.

When the boys came home they helped a little bit before going on the IPads and Grandma made fishcakes for dinner. Huffle planted up our new plants when he 'came home' from his 'home office' and cleared away the tree branches.

We all had a lovely dinner, Grandad did some jigsaw and the boys and Huffle played football. Small has a football match on Thursday. The boys both start Piano Lessons on Monday where the piano teacher comes to our house.

Sears called today to say that we were being given a store (Sears) credit of the price we originally paid for the stove. This was to cover the stove and we would not get change if it was less. Huffle sent Sears and Samsung an email telling them we would like to purchase a gas stove this time as we had no faith in induction and we would like them to arrange for a gas installer to come and connect our gas to the kitchen with the money remaining. We are yet to hear from them but we feel this is perfectly satisfactory. (Though it is a shame because we have a found a place that sell the same ovens at a much reduced cost).

No news from MrSnail re the mower.
