Pancakes, Plant, Paint and Pumpkins

What a lovely lazy slow morning. We decided to have pancakes but had no fruit, so the men went out and did a small shop while the boys and Grandma and I prepared and made pancakes. We had blueberry ones, choc chip ones and plain. Once the men came home from a successful hunt, we ate the pancakes piled high with fruit and maple syrup. Very nice brunch at 11am.

While I had a quick Skype with Moo, the rest of the household cleared away. When we were all dressed and ready we drove off to Port Perry for the Harvest Chilli Cook Off. The Main Street was pedestrianised and there were stalls, live music, crafts, petting zoo and the main event which was the chilli contest. For the cost of $10 we got a mug and a spoon and the chance to visit ten different chilli tents. We then had to vote for the best. We had one mug between us but everyone dibbed in (except for me of course). One of the tents had run out by the time we got there. In the end they chose the Butchers Chilli (the reigning champions although Small particularly liked the Voss Supermarket ones with corn and bacon in).

The boys both decorated pumpkins and painted on a turntable.

We sat and listened to the music and Grandad and I sang backing vocals from our bench. We petted the animals which consisted of Alpacas, Goats, Black Sheep and a calf. I couldn't get the alpaca to smile at me this year but he was humming a strange sound (a bit like when Grandad called "it's me" through the bathroom door). The baby alpaca snuggling up to his mummy reminded me of Smallest).

We bought a splendid Hydrangea at a fabulous price, some lovely delicious Pure Maple Butter and ate ice creams made by the Liquid Nitrogen method and we bumped into and chatted to NoCustard.

Eventually we came home and watched the football. Leicester City v Manchester United. What a fantastic game. 5-3. Huffle became a Leicester fan for just a couple of hours.

Grandma and Huffle made scones (finally, she's been here for 13 days and we haven't seen a snifter of a scone till now!), Grandad planted bulbs, I planted the new Hydrangea and then Grandad, the boys and I went on the trampoline. It was very funny but Grandad's ankle swelled so he went and soaked in the bath Nd when Smallest went to go in the bath after him, he complained that there was yellow in the water, though grandad swears he didn't wee in it! Smallest had a shower instead ha!

Grandad playing at being a popcorn, popcorning us and being bony bottomed by Smallest!

We had a lovely tea of baguette, cobs, scones and butter tarts with a smattering of wine and Grandad managed a beer (he must be feeling better!).

Think Grandad should have packed Sally in his suitcase! She'll have much work to do.
