The Loonie Mayor

Huffle went to work. The boys went to school. Grandad went down the bottom of the garden with his pants hanging outside of his trousers (well at least we know he was wearing them today!). He carried on with his Compost Corner structure and threw his toys out of the pram when he couldn't get the strimmer working.

Grandma and I went shopping. First of all we went into Dollarama where Grandma asked the lady if she needed a Twoie (she meant a Toonie which is a $2, the lady thought she was funny). On the way outside we had this conversation:-

Me: Do you know what a $1 is called?

Grandma: is it a Oneie?

Me: No, it's a Loonie

Grandma: Why a Loonie?

Me: because there is a Loon on the front

Grandma: What kind of a Loon?

Me: a bird Loon, not a loony loon

Grandma: oh I thought it was the Mayor. SILLY GRANDMA

We almost bought Small a bike for his birthday. We found one, we tested it, we decided we wanted it and I asked if it could be checked over before we purchased it. "Oh you don't need to do that, it's already been fully checked before it comes on the floor". WELL I WOULD LIKE IT CHCKED BECAUSE WHEN I BOUGHT MY BIKE HERE IT WAS CHECKED OVER FIRST. well I could see if George will look at it and she wheeled it away. An hour later and Grandma and I had bought Christmas presents and birthday presents and some football boots for Small, and were thoroughly bored and thirsty, we decided we were leaving to do our food shopping and would pop back later. The bike would be sitting at the Customer Services Desk I was told.

We got on with our shopping and tried to get a take away drink from the dispenser. This proved to be complicated and funny and a lovely lady helped us. I forgot to put the cup in place so lost half of mine though but it was a good experience having a drink to walk around with while shopping. Shopping finally done, we went back to get be bike. It wasn't there. I asked where it was and was told that it couldn't be fixed. BUT YOU TOLD ME TO TAKE IT AS IT WAS BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN FULLY CHECKED. After much discussion about what they should and shouldn't do, they told me they were taking another one to be checked which was a lie because they rang me later and said that there were no others and the proper fixers would be in tomorrow so I could pick it up Friday. RIGHT!!!! We came home. Grandad was still at compost corner and we called him in for lunch.

After lunch Grandad and I went to Home Depot to buy screws, brackets, clips and compost. We came home and Grandad went back to his corner. Grandma had made a start on dinner and helped me with my quilt sample. This proved to be a tricky experience. Fusiweb, hot iron and board, parchment paper, freezer paper, two different materials and a set of instructions neither of us could decipher. Eventually I go it done and it is now ready for sewing.

This doesn't make a lot of sense but I needed a photo to remind me how it looks before I sew it in place and perhaps I will remember it is on here.

The boys came home. They had both run for the Terry Fox cancer campaign. They ran for special people. Smallest said he ran 42 times round the school field (porky pies?). Small had hundreds of stamps all over his arms (supposedly how many laps he had done) which did not come off in the shower he had later on. His friend Bogie came to play for an hour and the three boys played on the trampoline, table tennis and basketball until his Mum picked him up.

Huffle came home and we all had dinner and then went down for a tour of Compost Corner where we presented Grandad with a decorative hanging.

It says "WELCOME Mr Peters Compost Corner"

Lovely corner

Trees turning a beautiful Sutumnal colour and the different colours leaves fallen on the grass

COOKER UPDATE: we have thirty days in which to spend our credit. Can you believe it? We have waited for two years for them to fix and exchange our cooker but we have only 30 days!!!!!!

MOWER UPDATE: raspberry sound
