Timbeeeeerrrrrrr

Smallest gave us a rude awakening this morning at 7:30am because the Christmas Tree had fallen down. Water everywhere, broken baubles and glass shattered and a poor tree flat on the floor! Smallest said he tried to clean it all up by himself but ended up coming to get us as it was too big a job. It took us all together to hoist it back up and secure it into its stand. Unfortunately there were presents (not many) under the tree which got hit by the water but luckily were not damaged too badly. We ended up taking all the things off the tree and starting again, after we dried the lights out and untangled them again. It took a good part of the morning and we had breakfast in between. Poor tree, I wonder why it fell? We did ask Smallest if he had taken a run and jump at the tree like Elf! He assured us he hadn't!

Late morning, Moo and I took Small to his Development Football session where I popped to the supermarket and stocked up a few things and Moo watched Small. I caught the last 3/4 of the session. Once again it was very entertaining and Small enjoyed it. I think Moo did too.

We came home, had a cup of tea and packed a bag for the basketball later. Aunt Pear skyped briefly to show Huffle her 25 year old Musical Santa (with 25 year old batteries). Unfortunately the Santa has now lost both legs.

For a late dinner, we went to a burger place where we are apparently known by the waitress. Not sure if this is good or not, bearing in mind we have only been in there a couple of times. The waitress knew I was going to ask for coffee and that I would want it in a mug and not a Pyrex jug as is the norm there for all drinks. We played Fish in there whilst waiting. Our food was lovely and just what we needed before heading off to Toronto for the Raptors Basketball game.

Trudeau is our new Prime Minister who wants to legalise cannabis!

The journey was uneventful and when we arrived in Toronto it was really cloudy with no view of the CN Tower at all. Huffle decided to park underground because of a notice enticing him with cheap rates, however once in there he realised it was a con and swiftly came out and on to our normal car park - put the ticket on the dash.

We were two hours early so went for a wander round. Because of the rain (it was a very English weather day today and I can tell you, I don't miss them at all - dreary, damp cold, wet, foggy) we walked in the SkyWalk until we reached the disappearing CNTower and then across to the old trains at The Round House as Moo hadn't seen them before. While we were there, Moo and I popped into the Steam Whistle Brewery and had a sample beer each. Very nice.

After a bit more walking, we decided to go into the Air Canada Centre and have a meander round. We got stopped and searched and had all our lovely food we had prepared taken off us. We weren't allowed water (so I stashed one of our bottles in my pocket), our crisps were taken away (those lovely veggie ones - expensive) but when they tried to take away our British Moo Imported Chocolate, we put our feet firmly down and squirrelled them away in various pockets. To be fair, they did try to let us keep some of it but it's the rules and they want to be able to sell you their own stuff. There wasn't anything written in the tickets though so that's a bit naughty of them!

The game was very 'razmatazzy' and loud with lots of weird 'time-outs'. Obviously I do not know the rules of basketball apart from a few I learnt whilst watching the boys play. Here is what I learnt all by myself or with the help from nice man next to me. The players have 24 seconds to get a basket or at least try, if they don't try the ball goes to the opposition unless it goes back to the opoosition through play and then the 24 seconds start again. When the opposition get the ball, the crowd shouts DEFENCE DEFENCE DEFENCE to try and put them off. Sometimes when there is a basket (goal) it is one point or two points or even three points - don't know why but could be something to do with the coloured lines on the court. Both teams get to ask for a time out and this doesn't mean they've been naughty and sit on a naughty step. It means the heavily made up, big boobed, long haired girls come out and wiggle to very loud music. Maybe the teams are strategising. There are four quarters which are 12 minutes long - however this is playing time which probably comes closer to 40 minutes each quarter after time outs, penalties!? and various other stop start things. It is very fast paced and lots of baskets are scored. Toronto won by about 90 and Philadelphia came close. They appear to sing the same songs at every sporting event - LETS GO "place sporting name here". Being a watcher of football for many years, hearing the many different songs from all the different teams, this came as a surprise to me. At the baseball, Lets go Blue Jays sounds like proper support getting behind the team. Let's go Raptors sounded forced and a bit wimpy, like the fans didn't care really. I was very impressed though with the mascot - a dinosaury, probably a raptor thinking about it, who roller skated, ran, dressed up and generally made a nuisance of himself/herself. I was also equally impressed with the way that people generally let a whole family out from their seats (whether your family is two people or twenty two - preferring to keep them all together). This happened tonight and has happened previously in the baseball. Can't say that has ever happened at the footy on a Saturday afternoon. Just saying!

Both boys were given a 'WE ARE THE NORTH' flags that you could wear with little sleeve holes. Small got a headache from the base noise constantly. Smallest was tired. Moo loved it, especially jumping up and being loud when they were giving away t-shirts. Huffle enjoyed it but baseball is still his favourite here. I think I could really get into basketball but the noise of it would soon drive me mad though they did play some good music tonight. We finally left (it started at 6pm) at 8:30pm with two tired boys. The rain had stopped but it was very busy getting through the streets and out of the city.

At home, Smallest walked into the French Window door (it isn't normally shut but I closed it due to the rain) and gave himself an egg on his head. The boys went to bed (around 9:30 - very late).

Huffle has to go to the doctors tomorrow due to his back giving him trouble as it is now affecting his sleep.
