A geekin' good win

We all got up early this morning in order to watch Smallest race his Kub Kar. We did nothing extra to it except to realign one of the wheels and add some WD40 to the others. Smallest stayed at home and watched TV and played on his tablet which also meant we only needed one car. There was too much waiting around as usual and Smallest's car came in 3rd mainly but overall he came too far back to get another trophy. We left as soon as we could and came home for a game of Skip-Bo (which was a new game for Grandma and Grandad. Grandma won but we're not sure how) and lunch.

Smallest's race, The Adults Race, The Kub Kars, The Toolbox and Patrick in my Pocket

Huffle took Smallest off to football practice where there were four new boys. Grandad WD40'd Small's 18 wheeler and the four of us went off for another round of Kub Kar racing. Small was desperate for one of the bigger trophies today. In his first two races he came 2nd and all others 1st. We got to watch lots of geeky dads and scout leaders. Unfortunately no Scout Leaders came out to cheer either of the boys on today which is a shame, especially as Small was the only one racing for our group. MrTool, who Grandad sat next to, had his own roll up tool box with just tools and accessories for his 18-wheeler which he raced and then told everyone how aerodynamic it was and where the weights were placed etc boring etc. Because we were there for the start of both races, Cubs and Scouts, we also got to hear the same spiel and the same introductions YAWN. I was properly Geeked out today. Huffle and Smallest joined us after the football was finished. Eventually Small got to the final races where his truck had to go on each individual track and the average speed recorded. In the meantime we looked at the design entries. They were spectacular. The amount of work that some people had put in was incredible.

The food truck bottom left won

When it came to the speed trophies, there were twelve and Small knew he was in the top six. Huffle thought he would be in the top three and Grandad thought top two. His face as they were reading to the winners in reverse order was lovely to see. When they got to third and he still wasn't mentioned his face lit up. He came second overall and got a big trophy (though he was disappointed it wasn't metal). We whooped and clapped for him and you could see he was really pleased. He was beaten by MrTool-I-carry-my-own-toolbox's son so considering we had done nothing special with it, I think he did really well. One of the Dad's told us today that he used Peanut Oil for the lubrication on his wheels and he found it was faster. I asked him how he had tested this theory and he said he spun them using various oils and found Peanut Oil gave the longest spin. (He came fourth in the Kub Kar racing).

All the winners for speed and design

We stayed for the design trophies and then came home for Smallest to have a shower and we all played Pokemon Battle (how pleased we are that CousinPest gave this to us!!!!!). After our game we went out for dinner which was lovely. We ate in an Italian we were saving just for Grandma and Grandad. We ate far too much: dipping bread, Chicken, Salmon, Gnocci, Agnolotti, Penne and Polpette. Beautiful. Some of us had dessert which was lovely too.

We came home and the boys watched The Simpsons with Grandad before bed.
