Sunburn, Shopping and more Salmon

We definitely had too much sun yesterday. I am burnt, the boys have pink faces, Grandad's face and arms are burnt and Grandmas chest is red. We slathered on the Aloe Vera Gel last night and this morning. I even wore a scarf when I went out and was expecting many many comments about being caught by the sun but somehow I avoided it.

The boys went to school in shorts today. Another fabulous sunny hot day. The Spring has passed us by and we seem to have gone straight into Summer, no warning. I haven't put the snow pants and boots away yet and all the shorts and sandals are stashed in the basement.

Huffle hid himself away in the computer room and Grandad went straight out after breakfast and worked on the drain pipes. He finished and was happy and I signed off the job once I got home. The drain pipe used to come off the corner back of the house and across the back gate, which before it wasn't used and didn't matter too much, but is now used constantly so it looks much neater and tidier and works well. He did a good job. He also made a start on the Perspex for the Tupperware drawer to make it more usable.

Grandma and I headed out fairly early for a day at the Mall. We had a few things we wanted to get but were mainly perusing. We started off in the fabric shop and found a few materials we liked but weren't quite sure. We popped into the Toy shop looking for something for Smallest's birthday but didn't buy anything. In the mall we started with Grandmas favourite, The Bay (lovely sales assistants, very helpful and chatty) where we got some bargain shorts for the boys. We picked up some stuff for Grandma to take home as presents and then had a hot drink and a toasted bagel in Starbucks. We both agreed that Tim Hortons was much better with their toasting and their generous helpings of cream cheese (eeeeekkkkkk). Grandma has always been firmly against most things Canadian but this trip we have found certain things she likes. Grandad asked if she had been looking at properties yet! NEVER! Our next stop was a shoe shop where Grandma tried on every pair of Sketchers available and being the Cinderella that she is, none were quite right. Our penultimate shop was Homesense/Winners/TKMaxx where we bought many things. The other day when Grandma was dusting, she broke my duck that Huffle bought me many years ago, so she replaced him with a lovely Hare called Harry.

I love him already

She also bought us some new knives as apparently ours are blunt. I don't think I have ever bought proper knives before, and most of our goods ones are ones we procured from Grandma many moons ago. I bought some ready made curtains that we may make into Roman Blinds and a cushion with the colours on that I want for our bedroom. I also bought some Pink Himalayan Salt (many good minerals and health properties and very middle class - Yahoo!). Possibly too late but we bought some suncream too! Our bags were far too heavy to carry so I left Grandma outside with everything and walked round to the other end of the Mall and picked the car up and we loaded it before we headed off to get potatoes and a kite for Smallest. We did really well and we were very happy with our purchases but tired and in desperate need of a cup of tea.

Pictures and rug I liked.

TOP: A painting, a close up of the same painting.

BOTTOM: A painting that cost $400 that I love and a rug I can never have (Huffle says) also $400 but huge.

When we arrived home the men were watching the Stoke game (poor game) on the TV and the boys joined them as soon as they got home. We had to turf them out when MrsPiano arrived for the boys lessons though. Smallest has got in to the Talent Contest so he practised his piece with her before starting on Dr No The James Bond theme. Small carried on with his Harry Potter theme. Yesterday we adorned the piano with the various trophies that the boys have received lately. Last week MrsPiano never noticed them so we put the Golden Arrow on top of the piano with the medal hanging down. Today she noticed. We are very naughty.

Excellent work sergeant

Grandma and I made dinner (well she was chef and I was helper), Grandad cleared up his tools from earlier and Huffle continued to work. The boys did homework, a chore, piano and played on their tablets before dinner which was Salmon En Croute with new potatoes and green veg. Yummy.

After dinner the boys went off to Cubs and Scouts where they did their Hollywood filming.
