The clocks went back last night so we made the most of it and didn't get up till late. yeah! We had a slow breakfast and stayed in our PJ's for most of the morning. We played Monopoly Deal, Downfall, Table Football, Hungry Frogs. Huffle put his birthday faces on the trees. It was so warm this morning that Huffle had his t-shirt on outside whilst hoovering the car!
I had a lovely email yesterday from my friend back home who bought our 'little house' from us before we left. She sent a great picture of it in the snow with her lovely girls.
Belle and Cinders next to our old garden house. Ahhhhhhhhhh.
Grandma Skyped us and we caught up on all the news. Uncle Dermott is home. hurrah. We are so pleased.
HB had good results from her exams and is on the way to the University of her choice. Just one more retake. Well done HB, we know you have worked hard.
I Skyped Moo and added to her list of things to buy from the UK for us. She is changing her broadband supplier so we may have radio silence for a few days.
After a big Roast Dinner, we decided to go to the Beach and took a picnic tea with us. The sunshine was out and it was a beautiful 16* (how weird is that? It was -9 yesterday!).
The Car Park was full and people were parking on the road even though there were signs saying no parking. We didn't want to take a chance as we don't normally have the best of luck with parking illegally! We squeezed into the car park. There were people everywhere. Every time we have been here before it has been empty with just the odd person walking about.
I take this picture every time. I think it is starting to fall down. Next visitor is Grandma and Grandad - wonder if it will still be standing. Hope it doesn't fall on them!
We walked quite quickly, in fact the boys ran most of the way, eager to show Aunty A their special secret beach. Along the way we saw trees, seed pods, birds (didn't manage to get a photo but we saw black birds with two dashes of red, - turns out they were red winged blackbirds). The dogwood was beautifully red. The sky was perfectly blue.
Small always complains that I take too many photos of trees but he actually found this one and told Aunty A and I to take this one. Lovely.
When we got to the beach the water was so far in we didn't have room to move much. It was quite windy and cold down there too. So different from other times we've been.
We walked along the beach and found sand. We walked as far as we could one way.
The boys played with the stones. They ran around. They dug in the sand with their hands. I collected stones (as usual), took many photos (as usual), but this time I had an avid photographer with me too, who also studied geology, so was able to explain all the stones and rocks to me. Huffle collected driftwood. He is going to make a sculpture for the garden!
We turned around and walked back. A bit colder and a bit more windier. It really is a beautiful beach though and the cold didn't put us off.
The boys moaned about being hungry so we eventually found a nice tree to sit on and had a bit of tea watching the sea and trying to keep warm.
"Daddy, ring the Police and take Mummy to Jail!" said Smallest. Huffle said "Why?". "because she keeps doing the wrong thing and because she imagines things" said Smallest. All this because I thought I saw a Whale in the lake - I forgot it was a lake! - I said it was because I had a vivid imagination! Poor Mummy!
When we were properly frozen and Huffle's fingers had gone white with the cold, we packed up our things and headed for the slightly warmer walk back.
The path was muddy in places with the odd big puddle. We have had lots of snow in the past and then a lovely warm day. What did we exect? None of us wore our Wellies. We all got muddy and we all got slightly wet shoes or feet. Some of us got told off for persistently jumping in puddles in our best trainers!...and it wasn't the grown-ups!
We watched the Canada Geese landing on the lake at the other end near the car ark and then got in the car to head for home. It was nice and warm in there.
ClownRose and BabyMo were waiting for us when we got home. She starts work tomorrow and wanted to say hello and goodbye to Aunty A.
Small fell over on the ice in the garden and hit his head. He was very wet and very muddy and very upset - so he had a warming bath. We played a couple of games of Monopoly Deal. Everyone won a game except for me!
Stories were read. Kids were packed off to bed. The grown up game marathon started. It's Aunty A's last night here. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. (better let her win then I guess!).

I was really warm yesterday wasn't it? We went for a 15 mile bike ride in the morning and sat on the deck in the afternoon, I've got a bright red face today at work! I hope your clocks really went forward and not back, or you'll be really off kilter and Aunty A will miss her flight, lol!
Hugs
Brenda
