A Table of Goodies

Huffle and I had a fabulous time last night at KP&A's. We met some lovely people, had great food and wine and lots of chat and laughs.

We met the parents of the boy who Small was having trouble with in class. The funny thing was that his Dad said, 'Oh yes, Small, he's my sons buddy!' Then he introduced us to his wife and she said 'I have heard neither positive nor negative things about Small'. I told her they didn't get on and that maybe they clashed somewhat but didn't say anymore. They are friends with the people who used to live in our house and I got the feeling (from her anyway) that she had already discussed us and didn't want to be overly friendly. He seemed fine and oblivious to it all!

We got home very late. As we were on our way out a lovely Tiramisu cake came out, so we stayed for that and then the Espresso came out, so we stayed for that, then there was more chatting and laughing and looking at photos of a gorgeous Italian holiday. When we got home, we found this.

OMG - how did she carry all that? Where are her clothes?

My favourite, Lemon Curd. The boys asked for Tomato Soup. Smallest specifically missed his wafers we used to get at Costas and Huffle's mushy peas and Turkish Delight. IT'S LIKE CHRISTMAS.

Our late night was made later by the appearance of Smallest at 2am ish after having a bad dream, and then a further two times. Huffle got some palpitations and then of course the Water Softener started. So all in all, not much sleep. However we didn't get up until 9:30. The boys requested croissants for breakfast., which probably made their silliness even worse (if that's possible).

After breakfast we got ready and went to a local Tree Farm to cut down our own Christmas Tree. It was cold but dry. We started walking around all the trees, armed with a saw.

We knew we wanted a fairly tall one, with a good shape and we wanted a nice colour. It was the same price whatever the size and weight.

We walked up and down the rows of trees, all different species, sizes, shapes. It was really difficult to find just the right one!

Smallest hugged some of them to see if they were the right size.

I want this one!

If you look really closely, Moo is waving her blue gloves and Smallest is running towards her

Eventually Huffle found just the right one. We all went over to him. We looked at it for a long time before we decided it was the right one.

We chopped it down, counted the rings to find out how old it was. (Can't remember how old he was).

How many people does it take to carry a tree? Four. Until the ONE man took it from us and loaded it on the cart and gave us a ride back.

When our tree was tied and Huffle put it on the roof, we all grabbed a hot chocolate or Hot Apple Cider and a biscuit and sat by the fire.

We warmed ourselves

...... And hogged the fire

And then secured the tree to the roof.

We drove home. Cleared a space in the house and put the tree in its stand. It was perfect. Just the right size. We left it for a while to shape itself and had lunch. The decorations had already been brought up by the boys.

They found some Christmas hats to wear.

And one for Moo - nice. After lunch we got on with decorating it. Lights, tinsel, baubles. All the old favourites came out. We never saw them last year because the boxes weren't opened until after Chrismas.

How many decorations?

When we finished our tree, we sat and watched a film - ELF until it was dinner time. While we made dinner, the boys got their trees and decorated them and put them in their bedrooms.

Smallest and Small decorating Small's tree. We had some dinner and then finished the film. We have seen it before but it is very funny. While the film was on Huffle thought he had heard rain or snow.

The film audience. We went outside and it had snowed. Just a sprinkling but Moo was happy. brrrr it was cold out there though.

Moo put the boys to bed and read to them. Huffle and I played a game on the Wii and I cycled. Moo came down and her and Huffle had a game of Table Tennis, then me and Huffle and then Moo and I. We went back up, had a cup of tea and watched some TV.

Tree looks good, you can never have enough glitter and decorations. Pleased its snowed for Moo but not enough to disrupt anything. We watched a bit of Elf yesterday, one of Cousin Pest's favourite, how spooky is that. Not so good that Huffle had more palpitations, wonder if he should go back to work today. love to all xx

Love the tree, can't beat a fresh one. Did Huffle go back to work today? Sounds like he still needs to rest or have another check up or something. There's nothing wrong with his hearing though, amazing to hear snow!! We got some sleety rain in the afternoon that turned to drizzle overnight and this morning, not very seasonal at the moment.

Hugs
