Please remove your Brassicas

Moo and I played scrabble last night whilst listening to music on the TV. At one point we found that lovely channel that just shows a roaring fire - all day and night!

Huffle didn't sleep well because his monitor kept getting in the way. I didn't sleep well because my throat hurt. I woke up with a cold and Huffle woke up and took his monitor off. He is happy. He has recorded all he needs to and now just has to take it back to the hospital for them to look at.

Moo and I left all the boys at home together * and drove to the local town, got a GO Bus and went to Toronto. We walked to St Lawrence Market, had a lovely pastry and a coffee and a good walk around. We picked up some English Cheeses for the boys for Christmas (yes, that does sound a bit strange but both of the boys have missed their lovely Red Leicester Cheese, and we found a place selling all cheeses of the world).

After a good peruse of the whole market, we walked towards the Distillery District. I have been wearing my orthotics in my boots and they were really hurting me. So changed boots yesterday and they seem to be working better. I even managed a whole day with them in and we did quite a bit of walking.

We passed a local school and the pillar outside was a mosaic of lots of children's faces. Cool.

It was very cold at the Christmas Market. It was lovely. Lots of lights, Santa, Christmas Trees. The streets were lined with wooden vendor stalls filled with great smelling food (especially the waffles which we didn't get - ohhhhhhhhh!), stocking fillers, hats, gloves and scarves, and many more things.

We walked aroundthe stalls, in and out of the busy shops. There were many many many people. It was too cold to eat outside and there were queues to sit inside. We bought some fudge (ummmmm).

There was some singing on stage by some children and Santa's Grotto. We decided to leave the market and look for somewhere to eat. We went back to the market. Another good walk back - still cold.

After checking out the different food stands, we chose a Greek one and had Omellete. I left Moo sitting next to two Chinese girls while I ordered. When I got back she told me she was fed up with their constant chatter chatter - thay were quite loud and we were very close. Our food was lovely. Next we went across the road to the other market and looked at the many food stalls there too. We may have bought something there, but we can't say!!

We were freezing so decided to start walking back towards the bus. We stopped to look at the decorations. On the way we popped into a lovely book shop - we were looking for a Canadian dictionary for Small to help with his school work. (Who would have thought there were so many different meanings for words here in Canada!). Anyway we didn't find one but it was nice and warm in there. Next we went to Winners and had a good look round there. We went off to the bus and on the way went into a Mall. The lights were amazing in there.

Looking up through the ceiling

And more ceiling...

We got on the bus. The bus driver kept announcing where we were going (though no-one could understand him). The man who sat opposite us said "what did he say? Is he announcing something to us?" I said I didn't know what he was saying. The man said "where are you from?" ENGLAND "Yeah, where?" LEICESTERSHIRE "Shut Up! I know how to spell that! L E I C E S T E R". He was very proud of himself. His Mother was from Kent and his father from Lancashire and he was American and very camp. He was funny.

The bus driver announced every stop and followed it with "please don't forget to remove your Brassicas". Well that's what it sounded like to us, until the last couple of stops when it turned into "don't forget to remove your Breastica's". WE ARE NOT REMOVING OUR BREASTICA'S - IT'S FAR TOO COLD!!!

I phoned Huffle and asked if he wanted me to bring Pizza home. He did. Moo and I stopped off on the way and picked some up and then drove home. We sat in front of Yogi Bear (what a lot of rubbish) and ate our pizza and Custard Do-nuts from the market.

A GOOD BUT COLD DAY.

* WHAT THE BOYS DID by Huffle

The day was started with a light breakfast accompanied by chill UK radio. It was then time for the games to commence, with pig goes pop kicking the day off. Then it was time for a pictureka card game, there was a little bit of cheating going on from all.

The boys played Wii sports and Mario while Huffle caught up on the stoke v Everton match. The match was drawn and Burlington Bertie's Everton were fortunate to not have a sending off for head butting, very naughty indeed.

3d snakes and ladders was a tetchy affair but Smallest came through as the winner. He is a sneaky player and establishes rules towards the end of the game normally dependent on who is nearest the finishing line. He claimed 'no bounce back' as he was nearing the winning post. This means he can finish without the exact number. If its anyone else bounce back is applied. I called him on this cheating and told him bounce back applied. The little rat then got the exact number.

Table football was a classic hall affair, the stinkers took on the old pro. They took a worrying 7-1 lead but I wasn't finished and took them 10-8. They crumbled under the pressure much to my amusement. Smallest and I then beat Small 10-9. A light lunch followed then it was quickly back to some table tennis. They are both slowly improving their skills

Ticket to ride was next on the agenda. This is a strategy game where you have to build a railroad between North American cities. I badly miscalculated right at the end of the game, making a schoolboy error leaving Small to claim the glory. Prehistoric park was the last game won in a whirlwind time by Small as I was clearing up. That completed the gaming day.

Baths were taken by the stinky bears while watching the old version of Charlie and the Chocolate factory. I was trying to explain to the chimps that the original version is far superior than the newer one as special effects were much more difficult in the 'olden days'. It still captures their imagination, that's for sure.
