I ate nachos at the supermodel*

During the night we had the Winter Storm, named Linus (who comes up with these names? I'm guessing it's the person who first notices the storm, gets them named after them!), and it dumped a great load of snow on us. When we woke there was not only a huge amount of the damn cold white stuff, but also blizzard like winds and a wind chill of just -27*.

Of course, the school buses were cancelled but the schools remained open. At first I thought there was no way the boys would go to school or even outside in those temperatures, but after the snow storm died down a little and Huffle had dug a small hole to get my car out, we ventured out and drove the boys to school. They got there a little earlier than normal but they were able to get in despite the fact that more than half of the school didn't turn up at all (that's disappointing seeing as the majority of them live in this very small village/hamlet and most are in walking distance). Apparently they didn't do any work today and I did feel a little guilty for sending them but it was time away for all of us and they had a good day.

Huffle and I had to cancel our snowboarding day as both resorts near to us were closed because of the heavy snow, high winds and cold winds. BOOOOO. So Huffle cleared more of the drive while I got ready and we drove off to Ikea. Now we used one of the main highways (bearing in mind this is the Highway that goes to Toronto so is heavily used and does have 16 lanes) and it was horribly full of snow which had not been properly ploughed yet. Cars were all over the place as it was impossible to see the lanes and lines in the road. Some cars were going at ridiculous speeds considering the road quality was poor. A car undertook us on the hard shoulder (you can imagine the strong words emerging from Huffle's mouth).

TL: looking up our road TR: The Highway

BL: the little pathway through the drive (very deep). BM: an attempt at a selfie (too cold!!!). BR: a drift around Huffle's car.

Eventually we joined a tailback of traffic due to about six ploughs all ploughing at once. At least it slowed the vehicles down somewhat. We got to Ikea unharmed and safe and went straight to the cafe for as warm drink. The reason for the visit to Ikea today was to get Huffle a desk for working from home as the office didn't have any. We had a slow wander through the whole store and picked up a few bits on the way. Finally we found the perfect desk and went off to pick it up.

On the way home we stopped for something to eat and a quick grocery shop. We actually forgot that we had to pick the boys up and only really got home in time to empty the car and go and get them. They didn't want to come inside straight away as they had not really been allowed all day. They played for a while in the snow and then came in and prepared their piano lessons. Their teacher came early today so lessons were over at a decent time.

The field (beautiful blue sky).

Scouts were supposed to be doing Archery about 30 minutes drive away but it was cancelled due to weather and overbooking. Instead they went to the Community Centre and played games. The Beavers went to one of the Beavers garages and painted the float for the upcoming festival. I think it is going to be a tank.

TL: the top of our bin, this is how much snow fell (30cm). TM: Poor Mme Neige all snowed on. TR: Huffle's hug snow mound.

BL love: our poor row of snowmen. BM: Huffle is finished with the clearing (for today). BR: It's a full moon

Huffle and I put together his desk in the basement. His office is now next to the sump pump with the dead flies, the scampering mice and all the paraphernalia that helps our house perform (furnace, water softener, air conditioner). I am sure he will be very happy here.

.......and continuing our Crazy Licence plates......

Yes I am quite sure you are.

*another fabulous statement from Smallest regarding the Superbowl this weekend.
