Which one is my car?

Today was Winter Festival in the Hamlet. So we started at the Church at 9am for the pancake breakfast. Pancakes, sausages and maple syrup with a tea or coffee or juice. Lots of people in there we knew so of course we had a few chats. We bought a pie from the Pie Sale. We sent Smallest to pick one out and he chose an Apple Pie but we sent it back in case it had cinnamon in it. He came back with a Blueberry one instead. We will have it for dinner tomorrow.

This is the car belonging to our local councillor

After breakfast we went on to the ice rink. 15 minutes to get Smallest's skates on, five minutes on the ice. Small was too cold and disappeared inside. Huffle and I got annoyed with each other. Smallest's feet were wet (we have no idea why so I had to take him home to get fresh socks and boots). Great family day - perfect! Everyone went inside and the kids went to the library. There was a story and song time which of course Smallest was too old for. There didn't seem to be anything else going on so we stayed in the library for a while. The kids were singing Head Shoulders Knees and Toes but to the tune of 'London bridge is falling down'. Huffle wasn't happy to hear that the words of 'I'm a little teapot' changed. Huffle and I read a travel book about Britain and we read up on leicestershire, our hometown. "The only thing that saves Leicester from mediocrity is the Asian community". "The countryside has been spoilt by industrialisation". OH DEAR!! For those of you rading this thta don't know Leicestershire, I shall take some beautiful photos to show you when we go back. Mediocrity indeed!

TL: Smallest showed us the bit on the poster he did

TR: his drawing of scavenger eggs and a person on a forest

B: the whole poster

In the main room we sat with Small's friends Mum who was doing the face painting.

Our boys had their faces painted too in between playing in a Uno competition. Small won about three games and is hoping he won overall. Both kids started the Scavenger Hunt but Small left Smallest because he was too bossy (not sure which of them was bossier!) but Smallest ended up teaming up with his friend and friend's Grandma. He got a bag of sweets, one of which was very blue!

They both did a couple of crafts, including decorating a cookie and making a snowflake.

We had enough by 1:30pm and came home for lunch in front of the film Frankenweenie. It was a bizarre film. The boys had showers and played on the computer before going out again for the Beavers/Cubs Movie night where they hosted the event and watched Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2.

Huffle and I had two hours to ourselves and we played a game of Ticket to Ride and watched an episode of Mad Dogs. Ahhh bliss.

The kids said there weren't many at the film but they enjoyed it.
