Wipeable and Educational

6am was the time Huffle got up. Soon after I heard DonNoQuotey shout "hey look at the crescent moon" and Otto reply "yeah maaan". Then lots of scuffling and a car alarm. I thought I might be able to go back to sleep but of course not. It was Garage Sale Day and although this officially starts at 9am, already there were people driving past - 'Hawkers' Huffle calls them, checking out the best of the best, before the rest of the public swing by.

Smallest read his book for a while before he too could stay in bed no longer and went and helped Huffle take stuff outside. I got up and joined everyone else. By 7:30am everything was set up and people started wandering along. A few along our road in Upper Hamlet had taken part:- MrsNosey and her Opposite neighbour, DonNoQuotey, Otto and TheRoyals.

A man stopped and tinkered with our mower but it wouldn't start and he left it. Not long after a man came, sat on the mower, started it first time and sat there with the engine puthering and heavily smoking. He decided to move it to the side where it would be less of an annoyance and after a bit of haggling with Huffle he finally paid $90 for it and went off to get his trailer. There was a man standing around waiting to see if he bought it and another one later that would have bought it. YAY ITS GONE. We also sold the strimmer early on (we could never get the thing started). We had one woman who bought $40 worth of books and games in one go.

It seems there were a lot of Day Care people looking for stuff today plus Home Schooling Mum's - they were all looking for wipeable books and educational toys. We had plenty of them.

See ya stinky tractor!

I brought out some breakfast for us all to eat and we carried on selling. Much to Huffle's annoyance, I bought a rocking chair from TheRoyals ($15), Cross Country Skis, Boots and Poles ($5) and a sun bed ($5) from MrsNosey and Smallest bought a baseball mitt and ball ($2). Smallest and I went for a bike ride around the Hamlet to check for other bargains but we came home because we were hungry. Huffle brought lunch out for us and we sat outside and carried on selling through till 2pm. We packed up the car with most of the things for the Thrifty Store and packed a couple of boxes for the basement for another Garage Sale. We did really well and think we made around $250. We gave the boys $50 each, put the loose change in our Swears Jar (as we borrowed from it to give as change) and got back on our bikes and had a last look around the whole Hamlet. Everyone had packed up and there was nothing left so we sat on the porch for a rest.

We treated ourselves to dinner out and went to the new Burger place in our local town. We were all very hungry and very tired.

We had a message from Scout Camp saying all the boys were doing well.

We sat and watched our second Red Poppy emerge today. Spectacular. The purple flower is a False Indigo - really like this one.

Sounds a profitable day, although you seem to have spent all th profits lol . Have Cousin Pest here for weekend, good game of cards with everyone last night, but we missed the statutory cheating. xx
