Little Brown Jug

We all slept well. Yay! Boys went to school and Small was selected for Band with his Tuba. He is very happy and will be in the Christmas Concert.

I worked in MrsRoyals garden this morning painstakingly cutting down and digging out the Jerusalem Artichokes. These are lovely yellow flowers with an edible root, however they do take over and tend to clump. There were an awful lot of them but they weren't too difficult to get out. It was back breaking work but a good job to get done. We transported the plants down to the field at the back and just threw them. Hopefully it will make a beautiful display next year, but won't be invasive to the main garden or to ours as our gardens meet at the back.

This morning's sky

After my lunch I met NoCustard for a lovely spontaneous forest walk. We walked for about an hour. The weather was gorgeous today. Wish it could be like this until Christmas but I know Moo wouldn't be happy as she is expecting a good snowfall this Winter.

Beautiful forest walk and NoCustard sending a message (I will be in trouble for taking this one).

When I got home I listened to Radio Leicester as Aunt Pear was being interviewed on there. She had an hours slot and she talked about herself, her job and life and chose three songs. It was very entertaining and I really enjoyed listening to it. The boys caught some of it when they got home and Small half listened while he practised his piano. Well done Aunt Pear - can't believe I didn't get a mention though ;).

The boys were celebrating Guy Fawkes tonight at Cubs and Scouts in the Scout Leaders garden and there were hot dogs, Marshmallows, Hot Chocolate, Hot Apple Cider, etc so I did a quick dinner of Jacket Potatoes and Salad before Huffle and I dropped the boys off and then walked the whole of the Hamlet (I think we did about 6km). On our jaunt, we noticed lots of leaf bags out for the 'garbage collection' tomorrow. Huffle gave these people a name of Bag W@nk3r5 (from the TV series Inbetweeners about the bus queue not leaf bags!). One house had 36 bags of leaves stacked outside their house. CRAZY - don't they know the beneficial properties of leaves and leaf mould?.

We saw the Scouts firework display while we were walking too. Very impressive. When we picked the boys up, they had had far too much to eat and drink but had had a good time.

Huffle went off to the doctors late morning for his results on his blood tests and back X-Rays. Our Doctor is very hit and miss sometimes with his bedside manner. Sometimes he likes to chat happily like when we were there as a family last week, but it seems today he was in 'matter of fact mode'. Huffle's blood has tested positive for Lupus. We don't know what type yet but it is all a bit concerning, his blood is being analysed further. His X-Ray showed he has a sixth vertebrae which is freaky but not a problem. He has to go for an MRI in a couple of weeks to see what is happening with his back in more detail.
