Big Bernards

When we sat eating breakfast this morning it occurred to me that it was the Terry Fox run in Toronto, and that this may cause us some delays in getting Dowtown today.

This was the day that Mr Burlington Bertie was doing his 'edge walk' on the CN Tower. We checked which roads would be blocked, worked out the tube we wanted was under construction and decided our best bet would be to get the train from Pickering. So we all got ready and drove to the station. We parked, tried to cross the bridge that goes over the highway and found the doors were locked. So we walked around and up a few flights and found that door locked. So we went back to where we started and Huffle, realising we were short of time, ran on ahead. By the time he got over the bridge he could see the train approaching which meant there was no time to buy tickets and get on the correct platform. We went back to the car, finding more locked doors. We thought we might have to spend the day in the car park.

We decided to risk the drive as we were practically on the highway. Actually it wasn't bad. We had to deviate from our normal route but we seemed to get there at a similar time the train we were going to get anyway.

Strange Van. Number plate was BIGSCARY. Huge clown head on the dashboard. Flashing lights inside. What was it?

Strange cycle

We got a text from Mrs BB just as we arrived to say that Mr BB was just stepping out and walking round. We could see red blobs which we thought could be him and we walked closer.

If you can zoom in you may just see some red spots, he's one of them

We met their friends Knife and Fork who were lovely. Very down to earth. They are from Sheffield England. Later in the day I asked them if they drank tea. They did. Which type I asked "ooh Yorkshire of course, we have it brought in". Yay. Our type of people definitely. (and they shared our love of Angel Delight). They have three Labradors apparently. Whilst talking on the way home, Small said "yes they have big bernards". "isnt that what sat on Smallest that time?". No Small, that was a St. Bernard. He he. Hope we see them again.

We saw Mr BB hanging over the edge. We couldn't see faces we just guessed.

If this is him (we're not sure) then he is the one on the left

We sat and chatted about being English living in Canada, visitors and visiting, winter etc. then Mrs BB and Muffin came down from being at the top watching Mr BB. They had some good photos. Finally Mr BB came down. He loved it, however he still has a fear of heights. The edge walk was a birthday present from Mrs BB. I warned Huffle not to even think about it. I promised not to buy him one if he didn't buy me one.

We heard all about the edge from Mr BB, showed us the official photos and then headed for something to eat.

Nice one

Poseur

Nine of us sat in Jack Astors. Nice food. Good company. Boys behaved very well. We had deserts too which were huge. Mr BB paid which was very nice of him. Cheers.

We left the sports bar, said our goodbyes and Huffle, the boys, and I walked on to the harbor.

We walked along looking at the boats, the lake and fishes. We sat and looked out to the water for a while and then made our way to the car.

Love this

Don't get too close to that water Small!

Love this building
The roads were okay on the way back. No diversions. Easy enough drive.

Love this bridge. It says & I quot;this river I step in is not the river I stand in". It is the Queen Street bridge and the words are based from a Greek Philosopher Heraclitus

We played football in the garden once home. We watched the rest of the Harry Potter film. The boys had their tea, we played a game and they went to bed.

Also remind me next time I visit to have words with Alfie about his attitude towards learning geology!!
