Les Trois Petit Couchons

Everyone slept. HURRAH. I woke up to Huffle wearing his cricket top and a Stoke scarf wrapped round his neck. I wondered if I was in some bizarre dream. In reality, it was 'wear your favourite sports item' at work today. I doubt anyone else will be wearing the same as him.

The boys chatted to me at breakfast. Small told us that his class was doing a French version of The Three Little Pigs and he was going to be the Narrator, WOW, in French, clever boy. I checked over his homework and it was great. Full of detail, nicely presented. He showed me his Maths test he had done, 26/26. I think we are back on track. Thank goodness. I am very proud. Smallest had to take in something to school today that had an 's' in the middle or end, he has surpassed himself and found SCISSORS. He thinks he has beat the record. One at the beginning, one at the end and two in the middle, he is very pleased. However, when he came home he said that his teacher said he was wrong. The item he bought in was SCISSOR and he should have brought in another pair to make SCISSORS. Uh I don't think so. Unless the Canadian version of a pair of scissors is different. I'm a bit annoyed as he left the house feeling really proud of himself. I told him we thought he was right and we were all proud of him.

It rained today. 10* but rainy. The forecast for the next five days is snow, snow, snow, sun (2*), snow. Huffle went out about 6pm ish and he said it was trying to snow!!

The boys went off to school, I tidied up, put some washing on, had a quick swiff and dust and then got ready to go out to my knitting group. I haven't been for five weeks, and in that five weeks I have knitted about 2" of sock. Whoops, I wondered if they would notice? I got ready, quickly skyped Grandma and Grandad and then went to my knitting group. It was great. Good coffee, good company, I got to knit a heel of my sock but now I have come to a standstill because I need to pick up stitches and this is the part where I normally pass it to Moo, but I can't wait that long so I will put it back on my desk and take it along in two weeks time and El the knitting lady can show me properly.

I came home, hungry, had lunch, dried the washing and went out to the supermarket. I walked around in a daze. I was so tired. I picked up a few things I needed. Went to Bulk Barn for some stuff and then Dollarama for some other stuff (so secretive but I'm Christmas shopping, say no more!). I drove home, had a cup of tea, put the shopping away and waited for the boys to come home.

I think it is even starting to look like a sock now!

The boys came home, they had a quick snack, grabbed swimming stuff and off we went. It is really hard to dress correctly. It is cold and wet outside and yet when you walk into swimming, you have to take off your shoes and socks and it is really really warm in there. I took my crochet, Small took his DS and Smallest swam. He did very well. Swimming on his side, swimming with his face in the water, diving in, jumping in. He looked like he had a great time. Small's thumb has healed really well and he has full movement in it so it won't be long before he is having lessons again.

Huffle rang me from his favourite shop (The Tire) he found a bargain. A big box of saucepans which can be used on the new Induction Cooker. It was such a good deal that the staff had hidden the last box but Huffle sniffed it out! He was home before we were today so he got our dinner ready. We all had dinner together, there was a lot of silliness at the dinner table this evening. Huffle was talking to them about football, mascots, nicknames etc. Huffle was telling them about Hartlepool, a long time ago, and why they were called the 'chimp chokers'. Smallest looked at him and said "was that in 1983?". I won't tell the story because you probably know it but if you do want to know, leave me a comment and I will tell the story.

Small took his homework in today and his teacher said she was very happy as it looked like he had put a lot of effort in it and it was very neat and detailed.

All of us played Table Tennis. Small is getting better. Smallest really needs to grow a bit so the balls don't keep hitting him on his nose! Huffle put them to bed, read them stories and then had a bath. He is feeling tired today. I watched TV and crocheted with my mug of tea and a Decadent biscuit - ummmmmm.

I wrote a bit yesterday about beating Huffle at Table Tennis etc etc, it was a lie. I put that in to wind him up because he proof-reads this normally for me. He read it, said HA HA, I posted, we played, he won as usual, then later on he said "did you take out that bit about you winning and being King" NO, whoops, I thought you did! Oh well, one day I will win and be king! (The 'King' part came about when we went to Tuscany years before the the children arrived. We had a table tennis in our Cottage and every time Huffle won, he would wrap a towel around his shoulders and parade around like a King. When we went to Northern Italy a few years ago with the kids, we had a table tennis there too. We would do the same. I bought a huge Union Flag the other day (bargain), once he knows where I have put it, no doubt this is what he will parade around in every time he wins!

Well done Small for schoolwork, and good hear hand nearly back 2 100%. Agree scissors a brilliant s example, you never say "pass me the scissor"! Sounds like Smallest will be a whizz at swimming. All round sounds like good week. ps...Keep practicing the table tennis, u never know. x

It's scissors in my house and always will be.... Smallest is right!!!

You don't say pair of scissor... you say pair of scissors.

The verb (the action) is to scissor...the noun (the thing) is scissors.
