I checked on the boys last night and was amazed they were in the same positions, cuddling the things they both call 'Larry' which are similar soft toys. Don't they look angelic?
Today we had forecasts for storms. This time up to 60% chance so you've got to believe the people that get paid for telling you this haven't you? Well we believed them, despite the fact that it looked lovely, it was warm and getting warmer. Still, we had a slow start and then got ourselves ready and went to the cinema, on the way picking up some cakes from the lovely bakery at Southampton. Of course we all chose sugary jammy doughnuts and ate them in the car before going into the cinema. Huffle didn't trust us to hide them and eat them slyly in there. We also had bottles of water stuffed into our pockets. Small informed me that it cost more for a large popcorn than it did for our ticket! I had just bought 24 bottles of water for just $1.97 and they were charging $3.11 for just one.
We watched Turbo. It was about a snail who longed to be fast and one day got (spoiler alert) fast by....... Actually I'm not sure why.....I didn't fall asleep and I didn't leave so maybe I was undoing Smallest's water bottle or something. Anyway he got fast and then a man caught him and raced him and before you knew it he was in a race in Indianapolis 500, of course he won. It was an okay film. The kids liked it. Huffle didn't walk out and none of us fell asleep. When we came out of the cinema is was a beautiful day, no sign of a storm having been or anywhere near us! Damn, did we just waste a couple of hours watching a snail.
We decided to find dinner though it was 3pm and ended up in Union Burger. No vegetarian for me (well they did but it was soya and I refuse to eat that rubbish on the basis it is pretending to be meat and I don't like the taste or texture so what is the point?) so I had a lovely Tuscan Salad with sweet Potato Fries which was actually lovely though far too much of the same lettuce in it. I particularly liked the cranberries, orange, caramelised pecans and goats cheese. The boys all had burgers and liked them.
Once back at the house we went straight on to the beach and managed to get a good two and a half hours on there. It was practically empty when we arrived but funnily enough started to fill up a bit not long after. They were drifters though and no-one camped near us. We all went into the water.
Smallest's new body board (first time in the water) broke again. Small has had one for years that Moo bought him in Cornwall UK, so we bought Smallest one here about a week ago. We went in the water twice with it and it broke in two. Huffle took it back to the shop and they didn't want to change it but did as he refuse to move. They changed it for a bigger and stronger one. However, we took it out today and it broke again. They must be faulty and are definitely not fit for use. This time it is going back and we are getting are money back for it.
The boys played football, catch and jackers and we all got to read and relax. Small hit his head on a rock when a wave caught him off guard. Smallest got hit by a ball when playing football. The sun was really strong and hot so part of us was glad we hadn't been in it all day.
We came back, the boys had a piece of toast in front of the TV and went to bed. Big day tomorrow hopefully. We are going to Sauble Beach. We went there last year and it is where the term 'Yoda Jumps' comes from. The waves were huge (not your standard Mrs Rumbleskins but big to us) and we are planning on a whole day there - bring it on weatherman!
