Marrow tomorrow?

Ahhh it's nice to be home. The house seems so big and roomy. Though it does smell a bit musty.

Huffle didn't sleep well (I think he has too much on his mind for going back to work, he says it was noisy!!). The boys loved being in their rooms. Smallest said as he got in his room late last night "wow, it's like being in a brand new room". I told them not to get up too early and they said they didn't but I'm not sure. They loved the fact they could watch TV that had their programmes.

After Huffle unpacked the car and I started on the washing, we had breakfast. The pool needed urgent attention and Huffle dived in and cleaned the bottom while Small sponged around the outside and the steps. Smallest cut back the overgrown foliage and the deck was swept. Looking good. All it needs is for chemicals added this evening and we should be okay to go in it properly tomorrow.

This morning started off as cloudy, which was fine as we had 'things to do'. I harvested six marrows (that were supposed to be courgettes/zucchini's but Mrs Royal never saw them in time) and a good handful of various beans (runner/Borlotti/broad).

Once major washing was done and clothes put away and pool sorted, we went out for dinner. We went to our favourite restaurant in our local town. It was lovely. Because we were there just before closing, there was no-one else in and the service was really quick. Then we went to Huffle's favourite charity shop where he likes to buy his shirts and we bought a puzzle for Smallest along with a not worn shirt for Huffle. We resisted an ice-cream but went to the bakery to buy a loaf of bread for tea and a cake to accompany it.

Back home we had a family discussion where we told the kids how hard it was to drive with them constantly squabbling in the back of the car and what we would take off them if it continued. Smallest laughed and was sent to his room where he had ten minutes of time out and then came down, apologised and burst into tears. Tired boy! I explained we would take away his beloved go-Go's and Lego if his bad behaviour continued. This upset him greatly and I I told him that how upset he was now, that's how upset we get when his behaviour is bad. I told him he has choices, and that he doesn't have to be bad. I think he got it! We told Small we would take TV away from him - his precious.

Small went back into the pool and cleaned the bottom of it and Huffle and I started weeding the front garden. Small came and helped us and harvested his first courgette (tomorrow we will use it to make muffins). The boys rode their bikes until Huffle and I finished and then we went in, watched a film and they had their tea and cake.

Some gorgeous flowers in our garden at the moment. I'm sure you have had your fill of photos of us and lakes and sunsets.
