Pale with Pockets

Last night's sunset was just beautiful. Unfortunately the little bugs flying around outside while I was trying to capture it weren't beautiful. They are only called bugs for one reason!

The cottage we are staying in gets no sunlight during the day. There are trees shading it in the afternoon and evening and it is not strong enough in the morning. Therefore the house is always very cool. Well I think it is cold. Last night we built a fire and sat by it with our drinks watching the sunset and the sky turn a fabulous orangey pink. Then we played Carcassone, Battleships, Ticket to Ride and Yahtzee before retiring to bed and falling quickly asleep, only to be woken by fireworks from the Party House. Aaaarrrrgghgghhh.

This is how I found the boys watching TV when I got up

We had a lie-in due to disrupted night's sleep, a breakfast and a Skype with Grandma before heading off with all our chairs, toys, parasols etc for the beach.

There weren't too many on when we got there, but still we chose our spot far away. Our sandcastle from two days ago was there and we quickly set about rescuing it and adding further enhancements. It wasn't long thought before tempers arose again in Smallest and we abandoned our building.

Football next but again this was ruined by Smallest's temper. He refused to apologise and ended up sitting by himself while the rest of us read and carried on sandcastle building. He attempted to get us to play jackers but we wouldn't until he apologised which he refused to do. He is a stubborn one!! Eventually I talked him into saying sorry to Huffle and order was returned and we played Jackers. Honestly, that child! He obviously needs the routine of school and early nights. The longer we are here, the worse he gets.

Smallest and I went off back to the house to get lunch ready. We skyped Moo while we were there and Smallest spent half an hour in his room playing with his Go-Go's. He was much calmer and happier when we went back with the food. We all sat and ate, watching the various boaters. There were many this afternoon. We watched a pedallo with four people in which almost sank, a man learning to sailboard, he had much perseverance but just kept falling in (I really wanted him to succeed because he was trying so hard). A sailboat went out and another sailboat was being put together which looked like a lot of hard work and a huge motor boat went out. Lots of things to see today. Plenty of dogs too.

At 3:30pm we made a decision to come off the beach, get changed (not showered - shouts of hurrah from the stinky boys) and make our way to Kincardine for ice-cream and live music in the park. Unfortunately Aunty Miaow text me whilst we were there and we got kicked out for being too nosy (or that's what we told her, not sure if she believed me or not!). In reality, we sat in the sunshine finishing our ice-creams listening to a jazz band serenade us whilst the boys played hide and seek in the park. It was lovely. Once it was finished we went back to the Hawgs Breath pub, sat at the bar (Insistence from the boys) and had a lovely dinner. (And a beer).

We managed to get back to the house in plenty of time for a go on the park and a walk along the beach and back. No-one lost anything on the way and no-one fell into the dam. There was another dam, being dammed by the same man and boy but in a different direction. Huffle thinks they do it to deter the Provincial Park goers coming over to our side of the beach.

Once back, Small blogged and the boys watched some TV before bed. The party house is now empty and Huffle thinks no-one else will be here until the weekend so maybe we will sleep better now. Why do I speak too soon? Someone has just moved in next door, so far they are very loud, there appears to be a lot of people and lots of moving things. Please don't be too noisy late at night!

One of my friends, Wonder Woman, has just created a blog. She is a great writer and so far writes everyday. Definitely worth a read. You can find it here.
