Today is Thanksgviing (in Canada). We started the day with a pancake breakfast. Everyone had a go at making pancake faces.
Smallest's
Huffle's cowboy
Grandmas self-portrait
Small's (I don't like fruit)
Huffle's cow (although I thought it looked like a Gremlin)
Grandad's moustache-wearing clown
Grandma's mouse
Mine - reminds me of someone, can't think who right now?
We have had our five a day in fruit! Enough pancakes........... We went out and did some jobs.
Grandad showed us his camp filing. Him and Huffle mended the barn door so that it now closes and they moved the bolt so that it now it locks as well. Wahhooooo.Huffle made a Redneck Windchime out of driftwood and beer cans.
from Grandad's beer drinking (maybe I contributed a little).
Even the boys came out and did some raking in order to earn some Wii time later. They did a marvellous job. Huffle and Grandad had to finish it though.Plants were put in. Two lovely clematis up against the barn. Grandad raked up the leaves while Huffle wheeled them to the compost.
Huffle made a lovely mulch out of the raked leaves. While he planted the Tree Peonies, I went for a walk behind the garden. I never realised there was a little forest there and it led to a pond.
I actually got lost coming back. But it's really nice back there. Grandad raked the pine needles and we used them as a mulch for the new garden at the front. Nicely tucked up for winter now.
Grandma made the dinner. Today we had the full works. Turkey, Cranberries, roast pots, new pots, roast beetroot (from garden), cabbage (from garden), swede (which we forgot to eat), carrots, Cauli cheese. Small and I had spinach quiche.
.......and we had enough for all of you that forgot to turn up. Thanks for the RSVP though Aunt Pear and Brenda. Grandad couldn't resist the temptation any longer and had to jump on the mower. He did a fabulous job.
Silly Grandad
The boys were playing nicely on the wii until Smallest wiped all information from one of Small's games and they ended up shouting at each other. We separated them. Small ended up in his bedroom and Huffle and I played with Smallest. Street Hockey and Football.
Then Smallest fell over and bumped the back of his head. He had to come inside for some TLC, Spider-Man ice bump and a bit of TV. Meanwhile Small went back on the wii.Gandad carried on cutting. "Mind that hedge Grandad!".
Beautiful stripes.
Dinner was ready. We all sat down at our festive, fall, birthday, thankful table. We have had our five a day in veg. What a feast. Then we had blueberry pie and custard. We forgot to take the Pumpkin pie out of the freezer. Whoops. Tomorrows pudding then. We also had a Choclate brownie cheesecake which was very nice. Too much food eaten. HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
Grandma's fall hat.
After we cleared away and Grandad washed up more pots than we had in the house, (has Grandma been out borrowing pans from our neighbours?) we went out and started a fire in the fire pit.On the compost heap, there was a huge amount of old wood, cut down trees, cuttings etc. it all went on.
The fire was very hot. The little boys came in and showered and I just looked out of the loft window to see if the fire was still burning.
I can't see but I know that Grandad and Huffle are still sitting next to it. Probably be there till the last embers have gone.
What a lovely day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUFFIN - nine years old today.
