"There's pants in my cottage pie"

Before 7:45am I had rang the plastics department at the local hospital to get an appointment for Small's hand to be looked at by a Hand Specialist. He has an appointment for Friday at 8am (which now poses a new problem, how am I going to get Small to his 8am appontment at a place over half an hour away in normal traffic, but still have Smallest get ready for school and on the school bus for 8:50? Will sort later!

This morning I drove Small to school with Smallest in tow. I went straight to the secretary and asked to see the Principal (he wasn't there yet). I told her, and Small's morning teacher, that he had broken his thumb and we had sat at the hospital until 10pm. We talked for ages and then the secretary said "you don't need to speak to the Principal, I can tell him everything". So I said "actually I would like to tell him how upset I was that you didn't get hold of me of Friday when he did it!". The secretary was all apologetic and said it was her fault, her call, nothing to do with the Principal, she felt awful and she made the wrong decision. Basically, she knew I was with family and we were in Toronto, she didn't think I would want to be bothered if it was nothing. I explained to her that if Small requested me, it was probably not 'nothing'. I trusted his judgement and I knew he wouldn't call me unless he was badly hurt or upset. I stressed that in future I wanted her to try every number until she got someone, as I knew my neighbour, my emergency contact, was feeling really bad that she couldn't have helped out. I think they understand my views on this now.

Small was happy to stay at school and Smallest and I came home. We skyped Moo (brought her up to date with the thumb!!), had breakfast, watched TV, built Lego, made a foam magnetic photo frame, made dinner for later, washed bedding, made beds, cleaned, tidied, played basketball, skyped Grandma (they are home and tired), skyped LizzieDotDot (bad signal, will have to try again later - however did see the lovely jumpers Moo knitted). I'm exhausted! Smallest has too much energy. Why wasn't he at school today?

I had two phone calls from Small (now the secretary is letting him ring me as she feels so bad that she never got hold of me on Friday). One to ask if he could take his splint off because it was itchy and the other to ask if he could come home because his thumb was throbbing (1:30pm). I went and picked him up, with Smallest in tow again. I got him to pick up some work to do at home (don't want him thinking coming home is the easy option every time).

We got home. Small started his homework and helped Smallest build some more logo. They had a quick go on the Wii and played table football.

We all played a game of Tumbling marbles and then Small took off his splint and had a soothing bath. We finished making the beds, put clothes away, then the boys watched a bit of TV while I did a bit of jigsaw and finished off the dinner.

The kids had their dinner. No beavers tonight as the cubs and beavers all went away last weekend and they are all too tired.

Huffle came home, we had our dinner. Kids watched TV and I went off to Garden Club. Tonight we doing a workshop. Creating a Magnolia Wreath. Will tell all tomorrow.

So why the heading, have I missed something? Good for you to tell the school how it is with the boys. Smallest probably is used to having 2 extra playmates for a couple of weeks which might explain why he is full of energy and raring to go......long hike maybe? Off in a while 2c G&G and hear all about trip, had quick chat last night to check they ok. x
