I'm going turn all the lights off and lock all the doors......*

5am and Small woke up crying, his thumb really hurt him. He came into bed with me while Huffle fetched him some medicine. I put him back to bed once he had calmed down and positioned his hand so it didn't hurt so much. He then slept through to past 7am.

Smallest woke us again at 7am saying that the alarm was going off again. I went downstairs and turned it off (what did I do???).

Everyone was up later - well it was the weekend! We had croissants for breakfast (Small's request). Once everyone was ready, Grandad went outside to clear the leaves (very big job).

Huffle went off to do a 'big shop'. (And he said "a wonderful job he did too"). Grandma, Small, Smallest and I drew the shortest straw and went shoe shopping (for the boys). We drove to Port Perry to a very nice expensive shoe shop (recommended, in the hope that they would be able to measure and fit some nice shoes for the kids). However, we asked the assistant to measure the boys feet. She measured one of Small's feet and said he was a size 3. Grandma then said "don't you need to measure the other foot too in case it is bigger". She wandered around and then measured his foot and guess what? It was a whole size bigger! Ha! Said Grandma to me quietly and nudged me to make sure I was aware she wasn't happy with the service so far. I then asked if she could measure his width and she showed me some shoes that were wide and said "does he have wide feet?" How the hell do I know if you haven't measured them? I thought!!! She tried to measure his width but the measurer wasn't working so she took it away and spoke to someone else and then declared "it isn't working properly but I think he has a wide foot!" I asked her to measure Smallest's feet. She measured one and told me he was a size 10. Grandma then asked if she had measured the other foot, she hadn't, so she then did. His other foot was a whole size more, just like Small's. We asked her what shoes she had in their sizes and the answer was a bit vague.

"Most people buy their school shoes at the start of the school year and now they are buying boots for winter". Right! Well we decided to leave at this point but on the way out we found some sale boxes of shoes that fit Smallest but not Small. In the sale but $50!! We asked another assistant to check if they fit, she suggested a size bigger. Which was in fact two sizes bigger than the original foot measure by the first assistant. We were fed up by now and decided to try Walmart armed with the boys sizes.

The lady in Walmart was fabulous. She was helpful, she was friendly, she spoke to the boys, she got Smallest dancing to check his shoes fit nicely. We were very happy with the service we got there. She even ordered some other shoes for us to be held at another store. Wish we had got her name as we would send in a note to say how good she was. We did tell her how happy we were with her help.

We ended up buying two pairs of trainers, with another pair held at another store for tomorrow. We tried to buy some Halloween masks but couldn't find any we liked. Grandma tried to find something for a present to take home but we were fed up and came home.

On the way home we passed a Llama in the road, loose. All the cars slowed down and one stopped. Maybe to take pictures or maybe to rescue it.

When we got home the front had been cleared of leaves and half of the back. Huffle had done the shopping and they were eating their lunch. We had lunch.

Grandad had a bath to ease his cold back. Small followed him to ease his poor thumb. Smallest followed him just because he was stinky. Grandad and Grandma started a new puzzle. The boys helped them. They played table football. I wrapped some presents. Smallest had a couple of tantrums where he switched off all the lights in the house (we all sat there saying "oh great, brilliant, we can see the puzzle much clearer, yay". This confused him and he turned them on again. Then he locked all the lockable doors (not too much of a problem as we can open them from the outside! In the end he was carted off to his bedroom for whacking me with his light saver as promised!

We all sat round and did the puzzle and then made pizza for tea, which was lovely. Small and Smallest sat and watched the Cat in the Hat. Grandad joined them near the end.

The boys went to bed and the grown ups played cards.

.......*and then I'm bringing my light Saber down!!!!!

Canada doesn't have an equivalent of Clark's for children which is very frustrating. There we some very helpful shoe shops which will measure but others not so much. Geox are very good and their shoes and trainers are good quality but can be expensive. North by North West are very good as well. We get Muffin's footwear, winter coat and snow pants from there.

Hope Small's thumb starts to settle down soon xx

Ooh look at all those lovely leaves! Looks like you didn't get any of our rain yesterday! Llamas indeed, you see everything these days! Hope Small's thumb doesn't hurt so much tonight.
