Last night, just as Huffle and I were off to bed, a storm started. Just little rumblings to start with and we tried to ignore them by watching an episode of 'would I lie to you'. Huffle couldn't concentrate and as the thunder got louder and louder and seemed to shake the house, the lightning flashed so brightly, right outside our window, Huffle insisted we all move into the basement. Small was awake anyway, but Smallest barely opened one eye and then snuggled under a blanket on the sofa downstairs. Huffle checked on the weather as he couldn't believe we didn't know it was on its way. It definitely said the storm was isolated (yes right above us!) and would be during the hours of 12 - 1am. Before 1am we took the kids back to bed. The storm was nearly over. Not much rumbling but still plenty of lightning. We have said we will try not to do this again. It's not fair on the kids, and it is perhaps just normal here.
We were woken by Smallest this morning asking us to get up because he was hungry. We told him to set the table and we would be down when it was ready. There was much clattering, shouting, banging, running to and fro. He came up twice more to ask what we wanted, what we drank, what cutlery we would need etc. Smallest coughed (much like David Walliams' character in the Travel Agents and Anne the lady in the home) and Small kept saying (every time Smallest tried to tell him what we said) Yeah I Know (much like the Matt Lucas' character in the wheelchair). They had done a fair job but lots of things were missing. We gave them a 4/10 rating and told them to do better. They are going to do this every Sunday.
While we ate breakfast we watched Muppet videos again. The boys particularly liked the Muppet Bohemian Rhapsody. Smallest's favourite but is Animal singing Mama, Mama!
We got ready, called Small's friend 'Cog' to see if he wanted to join us, he did so we picked him up and then drove out to the forest. We haven't been to this one since March when Aunty A was here. The car park was so packed we had to park on the road (which is unusual but it was a beautiful day and probably the last double figures temperature this year). The forest was full of mountain bikers. We went off the beaten track where it was lovely and quiet.

We climbed and climbed and climbed until we were above the trees. It was gorgeous. You can just see the lake in the background. This picture does not do the view any justice at all. You could see for miles. It was really warm too. Our walk was very up and down. We had a few Chocolate stops to keep us going.

The colours in the forest were amazing. The trees are so straight and tall.
Smallest ran ahead at one point and pretended he was tied to the tree! His hair is the same colour as the leaves! Then he found a stick and was an 'old man'! The path we followed went up, down, curving this way and that, it really was a good healthy walk.
A quick drink stop
More tall straight trees
A quick Chocolate stop
Eventually we found our way back down to the main path and worked our way back to the car. On the way we heard a very loud Helicopter which we think landed somewhere in the forest (not sure how with all those trees), but when we got back to the car park, there was an ambulance, a fire truck and Police cars. Not sure what happened.
The boys dawdling
You can just make out the Helicopter in the trees as it was flying overhead.
We had walked for a good hour and half and we were all hungry. We drove to Port Perry, stopped at our favourite Italian Restaurant and had dinner. The waitress said we had a lovely family. The boys took an age to eat so we came home. Small and Cog decided they wanted to go and play at his house so we dropped them off, had a quick chat with Cog's dad and then Huffle, Smallest (who was very upset that he couldn't play there too) and I went off to the Tire to look for shelves for the loft. Huffle thinks he heard a scuttling above our heads last night. I think he is wrong (I hope he is wrong), but it made us get shelves so we can get stuff off the floor. We also bought a couple of drawer sets to get things away.
We came home, built the shelves, set the mouse traps and had a cup of tea. We tidied and cleared the loft (looks huge now), Smallest and Huffle played on the Will while I went and picked up Small. I chatted to his mum, showed Cog how to make a lily pad with a piece of paper (he is very into origami) and took Small home. The boys and I played on the Wii while Huffle cleaned the air filter. Good Job!
The boys watched TV with their tea. Huffle carried on with the filter. I went upstairs to clear some more in the lift but ended up crafting. I just got carried away and before I knew it, it was bedtime for the littles. Huffle had a story read to him by Smallest. A long story with lots of words. He is a very good reader. I read Harry Potter to Small.
Huffle and I watched The Voice and Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares.
GOOD DAY.

Yes it was just an average Canadian storm. When we first came here we were concerned as they were loud and the lightening was very bright but we used to them now. Sometimes the lightening can go on for hours with no thunder or rain - an amazing sight.
It was a lovely warm day today. Glad you made the most of it xx
yes I am sure we will get used to it. huffle was the same in England though so maybe not!
