I've got four pockets full of cake!

Small finished washing my car before we went anywhere today and washed Huffle's car too. It was only when we were coming home that we noticed that the roof of his car wasn't clean, the windows inside weren't washed and he hadn't dusted the instrument panel (he couldn't reach, he didn't know you did the windows and he thought only the black bumpy part was cleaned!!!). I guess that means my roof is higher than Huffle's, mine has not been touched.

Day3 of Huffle's Long Weekend and we chose to go to Buskerfest. This is held at The Beaches, Toronto. Not quite downtown Toronto, around about 8km away in a park not far from the beach and boardwalk. Huffle didn't fancy driving today so we chose instead to get the GO Bus and instead of getting off at Union (downtown) we got off at the stop before, Danforth. We then had to walk 3km (I'm sure it was more) to the park where the Festival was taking place.

We went here last year and all really enjoyed it. It starts on Thursday and goes right through to Sunday and is on from midday till 11pm. Lots of buskers, singers, magicians, mime artists etc, plus food trucks and various giveaways.

By the time we got there (nice relaxing train ride, 27 minutes) and a long tiring walk, we were very hungry. We found an Italian that advertised lunches but didn't open until 4pm. Desperate, we went into a burger chain place but there was nothing for me and Huffle felt if they were going to have burgers, they should have good ones so we ended up going into the festival and checking out the food trucks. Last year there was a pizza place giving away slices so we queued up to get a quick fix. They ran out just as we got there and had to wait for seven minutes so Huffle sent me off to look for something for me. I found corn on the cob and came back to find they had pizza and a box of 'cake in a mug' mix each which were put in my pockets.

Smallest went to get himself another slice of pizza so I joined him just as they were serving a veggie one (very thin and tiny slices). He came back with another two slices and another cake mix and the other two boys went for their second slice. Thankfully we were given a bag at some point so we could put our cake mixes in because later on as we were leaving we were handed another load. We ended up with 12 and if they are no good, everyone will be getting one for Christmas. I've never had a cake mix yet that has tasted even remotely good! To be fair, I haven't had a cake in a mug though!

We listened to a great Australian band called OKA with didgeridoos, flutes and keyboards. Very funky, very listenable to. In fact we went back for more later too. We watched the bubble man and a band called CaptainCowboyandtheMoneymakers who were very good too and shared a box of fries whilst listening to an act 'strongwoman'. The fries man saw Huffle and Small's Stoke tops and told them he was an Arsenal fan and we boo'd him. He said he has never seen a Stoke supporter in Canada before. We also shared some churros and the man was very kind and gave us far too much sauce and thanked us for waiting.

We wanted to see a particular act we had seen last year and we knew we had half an hour or so until he was on so we hopped across the road to a nice ice cream place and tried a few. (Smallest had just drunk an old fashioned lemonade and was so full he couldn't manage one, except the odd scoop from mine and Huffle's).

Today's flavours: key lime pie and peppermint

We then settled down to watch VictorRubilar. An Argentinian football juggler. He was very funny and very talented with his spinning of the footballs and juggling. We voted for him as People's Choice award again and even though it was exactly the same act, it was still just as funny and clever.

There was plenty more to see and do. Smallest won a drinks bottle by learning about epilepsy and playing a game and he won me a lip balm at another game. We had samples of iced tea which was really nice and chocolate with cardamon in (not sure about that).

Once we were all Buskered out, we went in search of a proper dinner and stumbled upon the Italian again. The waitress kept scruffling Smallest's hair and she called him sweetheart. She had a very grumpy face and was not happy with some noisy kids on the table near us (she told the little girls she would get them in the dishwasher. I think she meant make them do the dishes, not put them in the dishwasher). Small and I had pasta, Huffle had Lasagne and Smallest had Arancini.

We had every intention of getting the bus or streetcar back to the train but after asking two policemen and a drunk couple, we ended up walking the 3km uphill all the way. It wasn't too bad but we were all tired.

We are doing nothing energetic tomorrow (except Small is finishing off our cars he he).
