From shorts to three quarters

Day 2 of Huffle's short break from work. What shall we do? he asked at breakfast. Considering we had a big day at the golf yesterday and some of us were a little tired (and perhaps grumpy mrSmallest), we chose to go for a walk along the lake. We only have four days of Summer Holidays left with the kids so we wanted to make the most of the lovely weather (not baking hot but still sunshiney and warm). All but Huffle wore shorts plus a fleece which was worn, then discarded.

We chose RougeHill as our destination today due to its flatness for ball bouncing and rolling and a not too far hike due to weariness. As it was a Friday and most people are working, it was fairly empty bar the usual cyclists who like to ping their bell. We wondered is it a warning so they don't run you over in case you step into its wheels or an arrogant bell tinkling?

There was no wind and it was a lovely sun trap. The wildflowers were in abundance with plenty of buzzy bees and insects and in fact loads of crickets.

We walked along the beach, hopped along the rocks and across the bridges (past Gollums Restaurant)

The sun was lovely and warming and we sat for a while on the rocks and let Smallest build a stone structure. Today no-one came and joined us though a man and dog wandered close!! ;)

We noticed a lone tree just starting to turn its leaves an autumnal shade.

We had a lovely walk and went off for fish and chips late lunchtime. Yum yum.

On the way home we popped to the phone shop to sort out Small's phone. We bought a sim and sorted him a contract which meant Huffle had to do some negotiating but he ended up getting me an $8 off per month and Small a $5 a month discount. Not bad since we were only asking for a $10 discount. Worth asking though. He has no data at all at the moment as we don't think he needs it right now but he can text me as often as he likes and has 150 talk minutes which should be ample. His contract is a monthly one so can be changed or deleted at any time and if he uses data, he will pay for it himself. We'll see how it goes!

Because Small has had a lot of money spent on him recently with Graduation, Graduation Trip, Summer Camp and phone, he said he would pay us back by doing various big jobs for us, the first being washing both of our cars. He started on them this afternoon. He only managed mine and subsequently overheated the vacuum and blocked the vacuum hose and he didn't know he had to rinse the cars after sudding them. Huffle is going to give him a list to follow tomorrow when he does his car. I'm just grateful mine got anything as it hasn't been washed for soooo long, I forgot the colour of it. To be honest, the colour of my car hides dirt, snow, dust, salt so I only it's dirty when I unload the shopping and it makes my clothes dirty!! We asked him to empty all rubbish from the cars too (hopefully he didn't just Hoover them up).

Huffle wants to show him the video of KevinTheTeenager when he washes his parents car.

Huffle and I left him still washing and went to take Smallest to football practice. We walked for the first part and watched the second part. One of the coaches is from Leicestershire originally and his Nan had just visited so we were chatting with him about that and football in general. Thy must have assumed we were from Stoke because when I said I was a Leicester supporter, they asked what even before?? Before they were champions? Cheeky bums! Smallest had a good practice and was told he was doing well by the main coach. That pleased him and it's nice to hear it.
