According to Canadians and their dress, it is now Autumn (or Fall). Long trousers have emerged, as have light coats and shoes. Me and the the boys are still wearing shorts though Huffle has succumbed to the autumnal wear.
This morning we had a waffle breakfast which everyone helped to make, followed by a clean up and play. Smallest and I played chess which he beat me ridiculously and then draughts which he beat me again but only just.
Late morning we went out to do some errands. We started with the Police Station where I went to get a criminal check because the school lost my previous one. I had to pay $20, that's a bit annoying! It will take 2-3 weeks but luckily it is checked from the last five years so they don't need to delve into UK addresses this time ( not that I have anything to hide!!).
Next we went to get new trainers (runners) for Small and I. He is now at the the end of the shoe sizes and if he grows anymore, we will have to go online. I also got a new pair and some socks. We looked for hats too for Small as he wanted a new Blue Jays hat for his birthday from Moo and she left him money. He found the one he wanted but they didn't have the exact size but the assistant checked another location and found him one in Scarborough (pronounced Scar-bow-row). We went for lunch/dinner and played Ace2Ace. We are teaching Smallest the game for when Grandma and Grandad are here.
We tried the shop in Scarborough and bought his hat and then went for a walk along ScarboroughBluffs (which means cliffs I think but we actually walked along the lake with the 'bluffs' in the background). It was extremely busy and the first car park was full. The second one was quite empty and there were signs about the parking but no-one really understood them. They said you paid but there was nowhere to pay. They asked you to park in designated spots but we didn't know where they were so people were just parking and shrugging and walking away. There were lots of picnickers and BBQ'ers and walkers. It wasn't the best place to walk as it was quite gravelly underfoot but it was warm and we were next to the lake and the 'bluffs' were interesting to see. We wandered around the harbour too and had a sit on the rocks.
Our last errand of the day was to do a load of washing at the 'Laundromat' where we filled one machine and drove off to the ice cream shop. Vanilla, Chocoate and Raspberry cheesecake Yoghurt were today's flavours at BaskinRobbins. Not our favourite but we couldn't be picky as there wasn't anywhere else in range. We set a timer so we knew when the wash would be finished and got back in time to play bouncy balls outside. We brought the washing home to dry in our dryer. I hope the washer man comes tomorrow. I much prefer the convenience of home washing.
Small cleaned my car inside because he forgot before and I cleaned the fish. Smallest had a shower and then helped me and Small played on his tablet until we all sat down to watch half of XFactorUK.
*yesterday on the way home on the train, our announcer sounded just like Kermit the Frog. Wish we could have seen him!
Our thoughts are with Florida this evening as the hurricane is there (so scary). We have relatives and are following the news constantly. Hope you are safe.
