Just as we were falling asleep around 12:30ish, a gang of about twelve teenagers came rowdily past, swearing, drinking, smoking and talking about drugs. One had a motorbike and was very enthusiastically calling out to each of his friends and saying how one of them was 'smashed' on something or other and finally drove away. The rest wandered noisily up the road. Another gang followed soon after this time knocking over next door's mailbox and pushing ours to one side and playing 'bull fighting' with DonNoQuoteys new for sale sign, knocking the top of it off and breaking it. We know who's house they went to as we heard their name being shouted several times and we later found out they had been to a supervised party but were on their way to another possibly unsupervised party. Soon after, the police arrived and a few tottered back but then it appeared quiet until we were woken this morning by DonNoQuotey and his next door neighbour talking about the incident and trying to get their mailbox to stand straight. Ours needs posts in to keep it secure! There was much discussion about it on the Hamlet Community Facebook Page where kids from our end of the Hamlet must have been the destructive ones. I don't think so!!! Huffle says I am not to get involved!
I had a well deserved lie-in and came down to find the dishwasher emptied, floor swept and table set ready for me to make pancakes I'm guessing from the fact there were eggs out and the whisk ready. My family are funny. WE WANT PANCAKES AND WE WANT MUMMY TO MAKE THEM NOW!
After breakfast (pancakes, who'd have thought?) and a chill while Small did part 2 of his homework, we all went out for a Beach walk. Today we went to RougePark but parked further up and walked towards the Bird Sanctuary. It was about 23* and sunny. We walked along the trail bouncing a ball. Smallest was practicing his bowling skills as he is trying out for the Cricket Team next week.
We sat on the beach and ate our Personal Panzos from yesterday and looked out at the lake. We continued walking and walked up Poo Hill. This is a Hill that overlooks the lake and has fabulous views, unfortunately of the Sewerage Plant and two pools full of steaming poo! The signs said they were 'lagoons'. Luckily the wind was away from us so we couldn't smell anything. The views the other way were much better.
Top middle Poo Ponds! |
We walked down the hill and through to the Bird Sanctuary where we only saw chickadees and a yellow finch but also had lovely views of the 'bluffs' (cliffs).
Smallest wanted a crunchie which was our coming back snack, but Huffle wouldn't allow it until we hit the beach again so we turned round and headed back for the beach. Our tree trunk had been taken by 'top-off-man' who was playing with his toy boat in the lake so we went along the sand a bit to find a nice spot. We had 'top-off-man' one side and 'huge-Chinese-family' the other side. Our walk took us back and along the trail where the boys all played 'bricket' which is like cricket but using a brick instead of a bat. We had to bring three beach bricks (nicely rounded from being roughed up by the tide) home for a new path edging. We met a lovely couple (Father and Daughter) and were chatting with them. The Father wanted to see Smallest bowling and he ended up being our Umpire because he was wearing the appropriate hat. They came from England 35 years ago but had visited again just a month ago.
That blue sky has not been edited. It really was THAT blue |
Out! |
Believe it or not, this was actually the toilet block (for people, not the seagulls) |
A big bubble |
We came home and Small finished his homework while Huffle, Smallest and I played Pictureka! on the porch. It wasn't very peaceful because DonNoQuotey started mowing just as Huffle FaceTimed Grandma and Grandad.
This evening we watched another XFactor. When are we ever going to catch up?
