Back to Sauble Beach

Nice lazy morning, breakfast outside watching the Olympics. Today was the men's road race- how exciting was that? One gold and one Bronze - wahoo - well done to Bradley Wiggins

and Chris Froome. Also brilliant news for the women's double rowing who won whilst we were sleeping - another Gold. Yaaaay.

Whilst sitting outside we had two visitors. A chickadee

..........and a caterpillar, which fell from the sky!

We had to play two games of Monopoly Deal before we went anywhere today.

Once again, we packed up our picnic, but this time we headed back to Sauble Beach. On the way we popped into the local bakery for some nice cakes for tea. We stopped at a pub for dinner. Olympics was also on but on Canadian TV, so a little biased towards their own athletes of course.

We got to Sauble Beach

This time we went up the other end and walked to a spot not too full of people. We set up camp. The boys were in the water immediately. Smallish to medium size waves (for a lake, obviously not of Oz style!). Huffle went in with them. It was lovely and sandy on the feet and every now and then there would be sandbanks. You could go out quite a way before it was too deep to stand. The water was warm.

Small running back from the lake

Smallest running back from the park

I never said we made it!!

I sat and read a magazine for a while and then built some sandcastles. To be honest, there were more and more people turning up and starting to camp too near to us, so we built ourselves a garden. we all went in the lake and swam and jumped the waves and played with the noodles. We stayed in for ages.

Our camp (most people had gone by the time I took the photo)

Then we built some more sandcastles. Then one of our neighbours decided to try a better one than ours. PAH. Not possible. Their Mum did all the work and the kids weren't bothered.

We had a game of Boules and the boys played on the park.

I played on the park too. There were some exercise equipment. After Smallest showed me how, I had a go on the elliptical with the lake in front of me. It was a lovely place to do some exercise, much nicer than a gym.

I took this whilst swinging. You can just see my blue toes. I got high but it was hard to swing and take a photo. Plus the sun was in my eyes (PAH that sun again!).

Of course, the boys had to get one last swim in before we went. Unfortunately it was probably too soon after Smallest ate and he was sick, in the lake, nice!

We came away about 8pm. The boys showered and went straight to bed. They fell asleep instantly.

There is rain forecast for tonight and through the night and storms at some point tomorrow.
