My Review of the Olympics Closing Ceremony

Interesting closing ceremony for the Olympics last night. Obviously we watched it on Canadian TV so the commentary was Canadian and they had to explain certain references, like why a yellow plastic pig had batman and robin in it. They mentioned that Britain didn't need an excuse for street parties. Almost intimating that they had them all the time. As far as I can remember, we had one for the queens Silver Jubiee in 77 and then nothing until Wills and Kate got married and the Queens Diamond Jubilee.

A comment was made how everyone was really happy with the whole of the Olympics, the weather was good and even the Brits were happy - apparently we are seen as miserable, uptight and unhappy.

We liked George Michael at first. He sang well (seems he has just got over pneumonia), however Huffle was outraged that he sang a new song (or at least unknown). I especially liked the Kaiser Chiefs singing on the back of mod scooters, although we wondered why they sang a 'Who' song and not one of their own (not international enough?)

We didn't understand the tightrope walker who shook hands with a wax work model that then caught fire! random? Why did Russell Brand sing? We were surprised by Fat Boy Slim pretending to DJ but loved the giant neon lit inflatable octopus.

Huffle said Liam Gallagher stinks, performing an Oasis song without his brother was not on! I read that the commentator on English TV said "the Olympics brings everyone together, but not the Gallaghers!". The commentator here said it too!

Spice Girls - ummmmm, glad it was a one off!

Eric Idle singing "always look on the bright side of life" was fabulous. Liked Muse, although Huffle did spot Nicole Kidman in the choir.

I'm not sure what the people wearing bowler hats with light bulbs on top were all about but I kind of liked them. Take That were, in my opinion, all the better for not having Robbie Williams with them.

Amazing fireworks.

We agree with your closing ceremony report, however also liked the Jessie j and gang. In the back of the cars and the Freddie mercury bit

Craig was disgusted that half of them mimed and Annie Lennox was awful.

Soooo pleased take that performed with Gary barlow it must of been very hard for him - however would of liked Robbie Williams too (a bit nicer on the eye!)

Yes Jessie j was good. Never been a Robbie fan I'm afraid though know you are. Miming is not acceptable for such professionals. I love Gary Barlow, he's a star.
