Overnight at the Burlington Bertie's

Not normally known for our 'getting out of the house on time', Huffle insisted we were out by 9am. So we all got up, breakfasted and unbelievably were out of the house by 9am.

So being the thoughtful person I am, I messaged Mrs BB to let her know we had left on time, which meant we would be with them approximately 10:30. However, traffic was amazingly clear and it only took us an hour. Mrs BB didn't get our text until 9:50 by which time we were only ten minutes away. Whoops.

We sat on their doorstep for a while because we were so early.

Waiting patiently

When they allowed us to come in, we presented Mr BB his birthday cake.

Blow

....and he showed us his new tattoo.

We sat and chatted for a while and then the big boys went off to play in a golf tournament for charity (they don't like to talk about their charity work), and the rest of us, Mrs BB, me, Muffin, Small and Smallest had a snack, packed a picnic and went off to Chudleigh's Apple Farm.

First we checked out the animals, goats, horses, donkeys, pigs, alpacas, sheep, deer, dogs, chickens, ducks (did I miss something?). We fed the goats, scruffled the Alpacas, watched Mummy Turkey gathering her eggs underneath her.

Apparently they keep their spots forever

Baaaaaaaaaaa

Is this a Mountain Goat?

Cone chin!

We fed the goats with an ice cream cone with their feed inside. When the food was gone, this one grabbed the cone. He was determined not to let it go, so he could keep it to himself!

Awwwww piggies

These pigs were called Wilbur, Babe and Gordy.

Jinx

There was a sign up that said the Alpacas were called Empire and Jinx. We were asking this one if his name was Empire or Jinx and every time we said Jinx, he raised his leg and tapped it. We think that was his way of telling us his name. Mr BB couldn't believe (when we told them later) that we were talking to the animals. Huffle could believe it!

Next we went on the park. The kids went on the huge slides. It was a really hot day and the slides burnt there bums as they went down. I gave Smallest my scarf to stop the slide burning him - MISTAKE - he went a bit too fast and caught his foot near the bottom and bumped his poor little head and cheek. I thought he had seriously hurt himself but apart from a bruise on his cheek, he was fine. He obviously needed a Mummy hug.

Look how big those hay stacks are

Wheeeeee

A Chillin' in a Muskoka

We stopped for our picnic lunch and Mrs BB went to get the Cool box but was stopped, as you are not allowed picnics in there (although they do advertise picnic tables). So instead the kids had hotdogs with a lollipop to finish. We sat in the shade of an apple tree.

They kept falling down - which resulted in a conversation about Isaac Newton and Small told us all about gravity (which he learnt from Horrible Histories).

Muffin reaching high

We were going to go on the trailer ride but it was so hot so we decided to make our way to the beach.

After some swimming (by the kids) and some relaxing (by Mrs BB and us), the kids started building sand castles and we ate the picnic (I was in charge of the picnic box).

The kids made a river and were carrying buckets of water to their 'river'.

This is Smallest carrying a spade full of water - bless

Their castle

We came away and tried to hire a canoe but it was late so we went back and stopped for dinner. On the way home Mrs BB took us for a treat to Marble Slab.

Playing noughts and crosses
You choose your flavour and size, then choose a mix (marshmallow, biscuit, choc chips, fruit etc), and they mix the 'mix' with your ice cream and then you choose your cone. Then EAT IT!

Full of ice cream, we drove home, almost incident free! Huffle and MrBB were already home. They had lost their tournament but had a good day. The kids beds were made up and they fell quickly to sleep (after Muffin sang us a lovely rendition of Dog Days).

The grown ups sat up, laughed, chatted, drank and argued about certain photos being blogged.

GOOD DAY. THANKS BB's.
