In search of Pluto

Our last day and the sun was beating down and the humidity was very high. When Huffle booked this holiday, we decided we wanted to do a few days at Disney, a few days on the beach and a day at Harry Potter. Huffle booked the tickets online and it turns out that the more days you buy, the cheaper it gets. So when he looked at three days, the fourth was really cheap, and when you bought a fourth, the fifth was free. FIVE DAYS AT DISNEY? is that too much? Well I can tell you now that the answer is yes. I think three days is more than enough if you ask me. However the kids could have stayed and stayed. So we booked for five days at Disney, had two days (ish) on the beach and had one day at Universal (Harry Potter). In hindsight we could have had two days at Universal (but for the awful traffic on the way), three days at Disney and three days on the beach. But I'm not complaining. We had an (to quote those North Americans) awesome time and have created some fabulous memories.

On our last day, we packed up the car, had breakfast and were in Disney by 9:30am. This was very early for us and I'm glad we didn't do days this early before as it was heaving. We decided to walk from the car park rather than wait for the trams and then took the boat over rather than the monorail. There was no rushing today, especially considering how hot it was.

Small and I got a new set of cards in order to start anew on the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom while Huffle and Smallest went off to their FastPass Haunted Mansion. (Small and I don't do scary haunted dark things). We set off in search of portals and cast our spells and received instructions for where to go next. We won our challenge before it was time to go back to the others so we started another one. It was getting more and more humid and so very busy. Just as we were about to meet up with Smallest and Huffle, a parade started so we walked alongside it until we bumped into the others.

The parade was Dance It, Move It, Shake It and was very loud. Last night Huffle had FastPassed three rides for us. One was before 10am which we had missed, the second was the haunted one which Huffle and Smallest decided was rubbish and wouldn't have even scared me and the third was Mission Space. We had an ice cream and all chose a Mickey (one scoop with two chocolate buttons).

We went to our first FastPass (Big Thunder Railroad) and even though we were two hours late, I tried my "I'm so sorry, we got stuck in traffic, had a terrible start to the day and are leaving this afternoon" spiel. It worked. What a blagger. This ride (even though it was our third go) was excellent. Huffle videoed the whole ride and I wondered how he held onto his phone it was so bumpy.

We did some trying on of hats....

And then found shade, peace and a nice place to eat our lunch on the People Mover (the ride that takes you through other rides in Tomorrow Land (ahhhhhh that place again!). The boys all went on Stitch's ride (I couldn't be bothered) and I walked up to the Castle and through the Rose Garden taking photos and enjoying the solitude. After they finished on their ride, we all went on our third FastPass, Space Mountain. I'm sure I didn't like this the first time but it was very good (apart from it being in the dark and dropping and looping etc).

Smallest has been in desperate need of a soft toy Pluto since we arrived and had his eye on the bigger one at $32. We thought this was a bit much considering how many soft toys he already had. He settled on a smaller Pluto and hasn't stopped cuddling it ever since.

We got another FastPass to the BuzzLightyear Spin ride where we shot our way through all the aliens. Huffle won.

We had a lovely cooling Ice Lolly whilst waiting for the Tikki Room show. You are not allowed to eat in there so we sat in the waiting bit on the rails in the shade. Just before the show there was a tannoy saying "please do not sit on the rails". Down we got, then "there is no eating allowed" so our lollies were finished!!!! Damn you rule keeping cast members! The Tikki show was lots of birds, plants and flowers singing songs. It was nice and cool and I was starting to feel sleepy. I turned to Huffle to tell him I could sleep and he had his eyes closed. Naughty!!

We watched the Festival of Fantasy parade and then decided we wanted to leave so walked along Main Street towards the exit following the parade. By the time we got to the exit (where we couldn't exit because of the parade) we were watching the damn thing for a third time. It was very loud, very busy and very hot (I know I've already said all that but it was REALLY!).

We managed to get out and get in our car and drive to the airport without much trouble. We got in the airport, dropped off our rental car and took our bags inside where we sat and had a bite to eat before checking in. We couldn't check in online and we couldn't check in using the kiosks. The boys looked after our bags while we checked in via the old fashioned method. We were delayed by an hour. We looked in a few shops and then sat and waited and waited and waited. Then we were delayed a bit more.

Just heard (whilst in Orlando airport) that there is freezing rain right now in the Hamlet and that the power is out 6km down the road. Oh oh!
