A new pet

Today the boys and I went to work at the Nursery. It was quite hot when the sun was out but cooler once it went in. First we checked out the boys garden. It had grown well in a week and the Squash were starting to crawl across the path, which is just what MrsM wanted them to do to stop the weeds coming through the gravel. We weeded two big pots near their garden and planted some Tropical Milkweed for the butterflies. We also filled one with Platinum Geranium.

After a wander around the greenhouse checking what needed to be done next week (MrsM is going away to Scotland) we weeded the gravel steps leading to the vegetable garden and house and then added more gravel.

At coffee time the boys had been bought an apple juice each and we had some of Jan's scrumptious Tweed Cookies (so called because they look like tweed) with chocolate and coconut in. They were very yummy and once again we had to have two! MrsM also works at the British Shop and she had a slightly chipped cup and saucer that was going to be thrown out so she gave it to me. We did a bit more weeding and some harvesting of beans, courgettes and squash and MrsM found the boys a caterpillar to take home. She lent us a terrarium and we filled it with parsley and put 'Steve' in his new home. We covered the jar with 'panty hose' or tights to anyone in Britland and took him home. We will watch him make his cocoon and emerge as a beautiful butterfly. We think he will be a Silverwing. The boys will keep an eye on him and keep him fed (I gave him some carrot leaves when we got back and put him on the porch out of the sun and rain).

After lunch and a long FaceTime with Moo on the porch, I went and did a bit of weeding and cutting back and the kids played on their tablets. Both of them had football this evening so they were allowed some relaxation time (and some time away from me).

I made an early dinner as Smallest had to have Rep Team photos and then a football practice and Small had a football game. I took Smallest and he had his individual photo taken followed by a team photo and then an hour and a half practice. One player hurt his heel, one hurt his leg and another his ankle. The coach said that if anymore got injured he would have to stop the practicing. Huffle thinks there is probably too much practice for eight year olds anyway. At the end they had to shoot a ball as close to the cone as possible, the winner got a prize. It was a drum machine (coach had bought a storage locker, I'm guessing that's where it was from).

As soon as practice was over, we headed over to Small's game where the score was 3-2. It ended in a comfortable 7-3. However it did rain and I ran to the car but by the time I got there it stopped and we had a lovely double rainbow.

Home, showers, bed for the boys and a cup of tea and TV for Huffle and I.

Tiiiirrreeeeeddddddd.
